@katdebest Hey, I'm a Scientist, yes they can do damage if you've had them a long time and the infestation is severe, it also depends on species, for example the roundworm can be more intrusive and may enter other organs systemically, one patient was diagnosed with a brain tumour and it turned out to be worms.

Yes, it can cause stomache issues, though not usually. Does the child have itching in the anal region, especially during sleeping hours or early morning? There's a very easy tesy you can do- it's called the scotch tape test, ask your doctor. If your kid does have these, don't sweat it....it's ok, they're the most common worm infection and easily treatable. Lots of kids get these- you're not a "bad mom", or dirty. It just happens.

thanks for the advice. I do feel like a bad mom because she's had the pain for weeks and I'm just figuring this out now. I've mistakenly been giving her gravol for over a month. We should get the lab results by tomorrow. Do I have to bleach clean my entire home now?

Nah- just clean the bed linens and clothing. Your physician will tell you what needs to be done, in that reguards. Like I said, don't sweat it.....just out of curiosity- did you do the scotch tape test, or stool examination, or both? Usually the scotch tape is diagnostic, but I'm not a doctor......be cool, you're a good mommy I'm sure. It's just one of those things that happens, you know? Nice to meet you.

thanks for you kind words and advice. I should know today. I did the stool exam myself , thats why I got the lab test done. My daugher woke up when I tried to put the tape on and , as expected , freaked out.LOL.

if its severe then it might cause stomach pains. e most common symptom is itching in the anus area
