Thanks for the message Elleirlanda. When I made the soda bread I used Robin Hood all purpose flour. I am having trouble replying to the message not sure why I am going to set up a new you tube account. I have a feeling the flour is the problem but I cannot get Irish four in Canada.
I have tried to make this recipe 6 times. Each time it turns out like a brick. My husband says I could use them as weapons in battle. I am adding lots of liquid and being careful not to over mix. I have used all purpose flour and cake and pastry flour and I get the same end result and its not good!
after you turn soda you should cover soda with tea towel when cooking them also as it keeps them very moist also a wee bit thinner when pinning out would make them cook quicker and keep them lighter [im no baker but ive done a few sodas in me day lol

Wonderful, my kids love soda bread, I always thought the cross was no more than cosmetic, so I will not have to make then eat the reinforced concrete bread I have been making 'til now, many thanks or Go raimh maith agat
