I'm viewing this from my Eee PC 1015 PE with Ubuntu 11.10 ...I might give Crunchbang a go. Willing to try any distro that can make this netbook run a little faster.
Ubuntu has done well but I'm looking for a lighter distro. Windows Starter was a pain, freeze up from time to using LibreOffice. Never with Ubuntu but I had to reinstall after months of use it since it would not boot up.
I'm glad I kept an OS on a USB stick so I could extract my files safely before reinstalling the OS.

@cognizant try updating, if you have a 701 wifi wiil be horrible and slow so we must wait till they fix it

IMHO Cruncheee is the best OS for Eee PC)
P.S. your boot time isn't optimized. My time for complete booting is 42(s) VS your 70(s)
