This is actually not bad; you should hear her sing Dyer's Wife or Elektra. There she has a wobble you could drive a truck hrough. Sad, because as you hear, the woman has a voice, but not for anything heavier than this, and his is right on the outer most border of what she can do.

I can't believe it that people really like the horrible sound and the strong vibrato that DeVol produces, and I heard her live a lot of times. She was a good singer till she started to do the hochdramatische parts - I heard her Aida, Tosca, Senta and Fidelio, and they were all OK, but already her Ariadne was a pain (all in Duesseldorf years ago).

Well, this is Act I, the first duet between the Kaiserin and the Amme; it starts with these words:

"Ist mein Liebster dahin,

was weckst du mich so früh?"

It is at this point when the Kaiser has just left for hunting, and the Kaiserin wakes up, wishing to recover her ability to transform herself into animals. She looks up and discovers a falcon; it says that the Kaiser will turn into stone if she doesn't get a shadow soon. The Kaiserin asks the Amme to help her to get a shadow...

Et dire que les français l'ont démolie pour sa Färberin à Bastille. J'ai honte :)= Une voix parfaite pour Strauss en tout cas. Au passage, Lipovsek est une des meilleures nourrices jamais enregistrées (si ce n'est la meilleure...)

Oui, c'est lamentable, il n'y a bien que les Français pour siffler cette chanteuse. D'ailleurs cette vidéo est linkée sur un forum français dédié à l'opéra où celui qui a posté le lien trouve même moyen de critiquer sa performance ici enregistrée.

I saw her Färberin in Paris three years ago. She's very impressive.

An amazing voice doing also Färberin now with just as much success. I had heard that she had done Kaiserin but only saw it now here. Wow! This voice is so much on the breath... really floating without strain.

Yes, she'll sing the Färbering in Essen in June, I'll BE there! Too bad I can't make it to Dresden to hear her Turandot :(
