@501Christler Not necessarily. Most Japanese students are astoundingly ignorant about atrocities during World War II. It doesn't take that long for Thought Police to pull an Orwellian history erasure like this.
Judging from the rightwing slant of Yahoo's news feeds, it's all too believable that Yahoo used their technology to turn in the journalist mentioned. Cisco's arguments were similar to those made at the Nuremburg trials, they didn't hold up then and they shouldn't hold up now.
This is rubbish, and I'll explain very clearly why. Of course those students know what that picture is -- you think they're going to talk about in front of a camera? It's Western journalistic crap of the worst kind. He's telling us what they're thinking. He has no idea.
haha I love how the US congress is condemning those tech companies for passing private user information to the chinese while the US government ask those same companies to provide the same type of information.
this was posted 2 years, and I had no this even went on. It really makes me fear the future of technology. How major corporations like google who we all know is the leading internet browsing engine can just hand over information to any government which in the case of this journalist can get put in jail and most likely tortured for 10 fuckin years just because of posting a link. Makes me sick
It's sad when the government doesn't represent the people's interest and well being and welfare. What is a country? Is it the government? Is it the head of state? Is it a particular political party? Is it the army? Is it the generals? Or is it the people whom the government is trying to represent? I hope the Chinese would see a brighter future in terms of their civil rights.
I think chinese seem to make the same mistakes. (perhaps not anymore) but they can't help going against each other. Student belief in the protest have their way, but to fight the govt army. lol. and tank man. ?
people died for freedom and they're just gonna pretend they don't even know about it. Thousands of chinese people died, how can they sit there with a straight face...
This is true. If you're smart, you know better than to talk about it. Especially if it's going to be in Western media. You'd be jeopardizing your future.
He may not be. Apparently there are students still incarcerated. Imagine after 20 years they still have them locked. What a cruel evil Government this regime is. At least they cannot silence us unlike their own people.
The people of China will one day rise against their government again. Same thing happened in the Soviet Union during the 90's. The people got sick and tired of it. No matter how powerful the government is, the masses will always have the power to overthrow it.
Man, can't communist countries come there senses!! I mean countries like China drive people to great lengths, they should let people be heard instead of this nonsense, the world is falling apart, and it's depressing.
I bet he was arrested, had the quickest trial ever in front of a judge who was ready to OK the death penalty before the judge even tried it, and the police took him out to a field and had him shot.
Whats even more amazing is that the supposedly "evil commie" tank driver actually STOPPED his tank and didn't just bumrush and runover the tankman. Like any soldier his humanity probably got in the way of the orders that was given to him by his commanders.
Same thing is happening with Israeli soldiers in Palestine, and American troops in Iraq.
@PeoplesGeneral Communism is not evil, it's just ignorant people like Americans mistake Communism for Dictatorships. In a true communism society there is no government, everything is decided equally among the people.
@manakurei The basic idea of communism is brilliant, if you ignore human nature. It's an ideology that would never happen. People are greedy, that's why it has never worked and never will. China does have a communism government, but it has slowly become a mixture of socialism and communism over the years.
Exactly but there has never truly been a Communist country though, so I honestly think people need to think of a new name for whatever Korea and China have because it sure as hell is not communism, because Communism and Dictatorship are oxymorons...
@SlimeAmTheBest ...who called themselves proud communists. But if you are saying that a "true" communist country has never existed, then I would agree with you. But I am not sure there has ever been a "pure" capitalist democracy either.
@jonathan102 If its not human nature, how come humans lived in communal societies with everybody supporting each other for so long? How come families work? I would say that communism is hard to make work in large societies where everybody is crammed together and anonymous and you can profit at someone else's expense and never have to see them... but couldn't that mean that it is our culture that has gone "against human nature" where we were all living a bit more equal for soooooooo long?
@jonathan102 You wrote a sociological grey area. Everyone is taught to believe the old adage that humans are naturally inclined in said behaviours competitively, and unto a collective sense it is therefore 'human nature'. This is a fallacy for the environmental conditioning factors are overlooked. The Soviet Union collapsed because it was economically blacklisted in system and unfortunately the happening tricked people into overthrowing. China is 'communist' on paper... the West needs it (ha!).
The reply that man makes at 7:17 sends shivers over my back. How true that is.
