So, 2008 may have been the coolest year since 2000, but it is still the 9th warmest year on record. And, the ten warmest years on record have happened since 1997.

our "record" of accurate global temps is 30 yrs old, so that alone is a joke
but since 1979, the planet maxed out at around 0.6C warming over a 30 yr period, and we start this record right at the end of a natural cooling period. One could argue that the small amount of warming was a mere recovery from the cold spell in the 70s.
But now ALL of the warming is gone! There is no trend, warm or cool
