Cubanate=pure awesome. As far as I know after Interference they were no more. Phil Barry operates under the moniker Be My Enemy and is also worth checking out . I have no Idea what Marc Heal is up to these days. Anyone?
@AsmallVictory Marc is around - I got here via his blog, in fact. As far as I'm aware, he's done some DJing and producing, as well as being busy with non-music and personal stuff. He's started a new blog about Cubanate here: antimatteruniverse.tumblr.com
I remember Cubanate and K-Nitrate back when they started in the early 90's. In 97 I moved to Cambridge and got a transfer at work. First day there I met abloke in the messroom and got talking to him about music. He asked me what bands I was into. I said DM, various others and Cubanate. I almost combusted when I found out he was one of the founders of the band, Graham. Been mates ever since. Now working on new K-Nitrate album.
Tomowen5 I was there for that tour too & i also had privilage of seeing them at the Dynamo Festival in 99 in Holland. They were playin in a huge marquee at 2or 3 in the morning . Was one of the highlights as they had a liking for creating sparks with disc cutters!!!
Great tune and great band! I remember seeing them opening up for Fear Factory about 8 or 9 years ago. The crowd was very divided! A small portion of the crowd (myself included) were totally having it, but the rest of the crowd were booing. However, they closed their set with IT (a true d&b stormer) off the Interference album, and they won the whole crowd over! Met the guys from Cubanate after the show and got some stuff signed by them - nice guys too!
This song changed my life, saw it on MTV late at night and it opened new worlds to me. I wish Cubanate were still active today, their four albums are still awesome.
I'm sure I saw this guy years ago (poss94 or 95-pretty sure it was b4 i got wed) In stoke on trent at the wheatsheaf. Think it was the support act for Carcass on their Heartwork tour. Cubanate got the shit ripped from him big time. He kept shouting "I am the future you fuckin morons! This music is the future!" hmmm
Cubanate put out muasic from 1993 to 1995, so they sounded like this way before Rob Zombie started to..
White Zombie l did get some electronic sounsds in the mix towards the end of theier career, but on early albums like "Soulcrusher" they sound nothing like this.
My mistake, got my dates wrong & was mislead by the fact that they have the same voice & not having heard any white zombie from their earlier period when they were shit. And the fact that most industrial / electro music is fairly indistinguishable.
Somewhat. the actual song is a lot less metal and more hard techno. Mark and Phil were revolutionary for using the hard, Clean guitars as accent to the harsh, driving Industrial techno beat. it added a sense of organics to a genre of music that, at the time, was sincerely lacking, and ended up influencing a growing movement thant ended up being the Modern Industrial/EBM scene. the Zombie was more an off shooot of metal, whereas Cubanate was an off shoot of techno

BEST HARDFLOOR INDUSTRIAL DANCE BAND EVER... too bad Marc just fell off the radar. Do yourself a favor and go online to track down the final (unreleased) album... some of their best stuff never even got an official release.
@GunHed17 What is the album title? I'd love to hear that! I was lucky enough to see them live with Hanzel und Gretyl and Rammstein in 99/2000 (somewhere around there). Love this band. Also, remember Ultraviolence? Another good outfit from Dynamica.
yes, Mark Heal is the same person who fronted Ashtrayhead..."Good Doggie", "Handyman" and all that. Definitely check out Cubanate's first 3 albums for more music in the same vein.
@ammutbite Do you think Interference isn't worth checking out? personally I found the change of direction very enjoyable but apparently no one else did.
Cubanate are fucking sweet, not subtle or pretty but they knew how to deliver balls-out aggro-industrial like no other fucker. I wish they'd get more air time at my local EBM night, then I could really lay way to the dancefloor.
I remember sawing this on MTV the first time it was aired... it blew our brains out. this sounded like the future that never was. fantastic bodyrockmusic!!
A lot like NIN? Sounds nothing like NIN... Anyway, a blast from the past for me, I still have this CD!

Oxyacetylene.
Please, just for once, spell it right.
Oxy-Ace-Ty-Lene.
If it's that hard, think of an Oxymoron where Ty and Lene contrast in being Ace. Just fix the order.
Oxyacetylene. Hardest word ever (maybe along with "teh", "hte" and "strygwyr", where people mean "the")
