@electronicmedium My god!! Finally someone who thought so too!! I got chills when I read your comment lol. But I don't think it is ENTIRELY about Marilyn, but since many of the things in Lynch's movies are based on personal experiences, he said that he is obsessed with her death's clue and secrets. I also once thought of Laura Palmer as Lynch's personal Marilyn.
To me, (and I know jack ":f" all about making a "hollywood" movie, but He did this with Twin Peaks and now, Mulholland Drive.. I am sorry, (because a lot of folks I read/and or/ know/ label mr. lynch as being a"crazy" but is he not a goddamn great writer and film-maker?
I need help as an independent filmmaker, if anyone would care to help in a small way please search "Brozeiy's activist flick" If you think that it's hard to make independent films; you're simply getting your information from the wrong sources.
What Lynch says here on keeping his actors somewhat in the dark i.e. not describing what the result should be prior to achieving the results, actually makes a lot of sense to me. I find that when I am compelled to describe as much as I can to collaborators in hopes to perfect the collaborative process, it often destroys or puts a conditioned sense of control on what should be a very natural process. It is often more beneficial to say nothing, or at least very little about what is to be done.
