He talks about melting steel when nobody said the fire melted the steel, it just caused the steel to fail. Structurally failed steel can't support the weight above it. It's just that simple.

How did the interviewer get his job, or keep it? He is an idiot, who doesn't even understand the most basic things. He ruins the interview, and Richard Gage isn't very good at interviews at the best of times. (Though I totally agree with everything he says.)

The same way most get their jobs. They regurgitate exam data for teachers that regurgitate course material. It seems to follow that the higher the scores the deeper the indoctrination. Those are the people chosen as placeholders for the status quo.
