Those southwestern American cacti are amazing- I was bowled over by the number and variety of species on my visit to the "desert garden" of Huntington Gardens (Pasadena) a year and a half ago. Now if only they'd had your pan flute playing too to evoke the spirit of the land it would've been perfect!

As for Monument Valley I spent 2 days there in 2006 and it was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life.
