Ann should have just kneed that "barracuda" guy in the nuts and while he gripped himself said "Talk to me like that again and I'll be wearin' them as earrings !! "
But I wonder what song that would have inspired !! Women these days are always knee-ing blokes in the balls - They didn't start that fashion !! Strong women but still Lady-like
It doesn't matter how old they are or what size they are, they are still damn good! As for them becoming over feminised - songs like: 'the night' and 'back to avalon' and 'sunflower' are every bit as good as 'barracuda'.
I wish Ann Wilson would encounter about 10 more of those sleazy men that inspired her to write the lyrics to Barracuda, Maybe then they could once again write a kickass rock song with kickass instrumentals that have been missing for 30 years. Because being one of the original fans that helped get them where they are today, I feel cheated!!! There is something missing in their music it has become to feminized for me.
sincere comments by ann. that sleazy guy had to be from the northeast where they talk with that accent.
who was the guy that "sand" was dedicated to and who is "sharon hess" that is mentioned on the 1985 album and who was "wanda" from the heartbeat mail club back around 1987-1988?
@The096757 "Sand" was dedicated to Ann Wilson's gardener & friend who died of AIDS in the early 90's.
Sharon Hess was fan of Heart who built a guitar for Nancy Wilson. Sharon had terminal cancer. She got to spend time in the recording studio with Heart and became friends with Ann & Nancy before she died. Heart dedicated the song "These Dreams" to her.
Alan Muller and his mom (Wanda) ran Heart's fanclub for several years.
interesting but sad info. i thought "sand" was for a member of the music world. didnt know sharon hess was someone who died but knew she was someone of significance.and i thought back in 1987 "wanda" was a sister of ann and nancy.
i have to admit when i first looked at the tape in 1985 i thought it said the song was dedicated to sharon tate.
@The096757 Lou (A&N's mom) & Lynn (A&N's sister) also assisted with Heart's fan club many years ago. Songwriting partner Sue Ennis also assisted with the club for a time. Melissa Manetta was the club's leader in the 1990's.
Interesting note about the Wilson's family. Lynn Wilson appears in Heart's 1982 video for "This Man Is Mine". Lynn also sang background vocals on These Dreams. Lynn is the oldest of the three Wilson sisters but was never an official member of Heart.
"behind the music with heart" told people a lot about them. before that it was hard to find out things about them and in the mid 1980s during their most successful years i was ticked off that the media never talked about them like the media did endlessly for women who made dance or r&b music.
they are doing well with their concerts considering classic rock radio still plays few women. heart made videos in the 1980s but they didn't get endless coverage by the media & press

It's nice to see them rock again. Hopefully the "Bad Animals" crap is over. Jupiter's Darling was amazing.
