Great song we used going down the cat walk, sex was free for the taking and it was every were. Fashion was on the west end, music was about to change forever. I miss the action we had w/out to much info to remind how crazy we really were. The Tubes were hot too.
Say what you want, but even decades later music like this had substance, artistry, and style. Always loved Duran Duran because they were a class act and
@riobluebell Oh my goodness sexy friggin right....black hair suits them, could they have gotten any hotter? The instrumental section to this song is phenomenol! Screams sex appeal..damn!
This video appears to be brimming with "craftwork". Scarlet woman summoning 4 horsemen, shadowy agents among the very population, secret games with women clad in indigo...there are more than the artists and creative directors trying to tell us something here, I think....or I'm just a class a paranoiac...either way...
it was a big side project, if you consider how famous they were in the same time with duran duran. For all my life i decleared that the eighties pop band like duran, spandau ballet, talk talk and many more... were formed by good musician with fresh ideas (not like now!)
listen to the "powerstation" too with robert palmer and the duran duran's bassist.
Those Englishmen sure know how to work the funky beats into this song! It's why I'm addicted to it all these years. 1985 was a kick-ass year for me.......back in the 8th grade that is lol!
Those guys had all qualities -musically gifted, financially savvy and goddam good looks! Guys all wanted to look like them and gals all wanted to land in their beds!
One of those sexy songs that you just cant get out of your head!! Love the black hair, very sexy, good video, very entertaining. When I was a kid I died my hair jet black because of this video, but I panicked when my mam said your father will kill you. He came from work and said nice hair pet !!! lol : - )
This song imo sounds the most like Duran Duran. I guess that is why it was the first single from the album, but it is the least often listened to (by me) of all the arcadia songs.
Both Duran Duran side-projects (at least thats how I consider both Arcadia and Power Station) produced amazing music. Loved their work back then, still loving it now.
I still have the original vinyl of So Red The Rose that I bought as a teenager and now I have the special edition pack with the remastered and remixed versions and the DVD. This has always been my favourite album. Does anyone remember the code? If so....
@JoshuaTaylor I agree- it's weird but I've always liked it(plus "Goodbye Is Forever") from "So Red The Rose". According to the "Songfacts" website, Nick Rhodes took the name "Arcadia" from a Poussin painting, showing shepherds around a tomb that said: "Et in Arcadia ego"("Even In Arcadia, There I Am")- also from a phrase found in Virgils's fifth eclogue. "Arcadia" is a central plateau of Southern Greece. It's inhabitants, isolated from the rest of the world, were romanticized by poets/writers.
@floersche Oh honey! You cannot compare the two. They are both good in there own right. One is edging on rock the other on techo/new wave.. I am a die-hard D2 fan & not only do I have both albums but 12"s for both bands and saw both in concert. Loved both :)
@MikeDiamond69 I must respectfully disagree about which 'side-project' was better. Thought 'So Red the Rose' was a brilliant effort. Power Station was okay. Had to say it.
Sorry Mike, not even close! While Power Station had a few decent tracks and the best single (Some Like It Hot) between both projects, the PS album couldn't hold a candle to Arcadia's "So Red the Rose". It was once called the best Duran Duran album they never made. I'd have to agree!
The production values of this song owe a HUGE debt to George Martin, of Beatles fame. Were it not for, "I Am the Walrus" this song, this studio trickery, would not exist.
@JoshuaTaylor : You're right, noone else used "studio trickery" before then and if George hadn't have invented it, we'd all still be listening to music recorded directly onto wax cylinders. *facepalms*
@belpernews I think you know what you can do with your "wax cylinder". I was attempting to make an intelligent comment on how studio production has evolved over the years. Unfortunately, many YouTube readers have not.
i miss this kind of music and time i love the 80s music and style i am 40 now i miss being teen and all i wish i could go back and enjoy having my mom and dad back living ...... i misss all this:(
Wow the video filled with self absorbed vampires! Imagine that......only today it's acow that is being milked dry. But Simon LEBon is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even today he is fine!
Ah yes. Back when music had treble and people actually sang rather than sticking their vocals through filters til it sounded like they were singing through a sock, back when sings had actual drum lines rather than dum tch dum tch dumtch dum tch, back when lyrics could be about anything you liked and people could wear what they wanted and music was about what it sounded like...

As a long time fan of DD and Arcadia too, anyone else think that Simon and the guys had really strange lyrics to their songs that made NO SENSE, especially the lyrics to THIS song. Flim, flam and judy? All over you as they say rumours or rivals yell at the strike force
Hi guys, by the way, are you aware you're being illegal
@cjs33139 At the time a lot of bands wrote lyrics that actively encouraged multiple re-interpretations. Pop music was considered an advanced art and the experience was supposed to have levels and many meanings. Almost like a Tarot deck. Siouxise and the Banshees did this as well.
Perhaps think of the song as a kind of sonic Tarot card...?
Shouldn't be asking... Wild and scheming Could be my election day Maximum big surprise You know something new I pull my shirt off and pray We're sacred and bound To suffer the heatwave Pull my shirt off and pray We're coming up on re-election day

......Met the love of my life, had kids, got divorced...... paying alimony, sell the house, give away half your belongings, what a great time that must bin. Dude, didn't you watch RAW from eddy murphy?
I remembered prefering this "spinoff" band to Duran Duran themselves- although I wasn't crazy about the entire album("So Red The Rose"). Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes looked so cool with their hair dyed black! FYI: the sultry female voice in the middle is wild Jamaican singer/actress Grace Jones.
Gosh...the eighties were SOOO much better!!1The music people hear today is so horrible!!!I wish I lived in the eighties!!!music was better, people REALLY KNEW HOW TO MAKE SONGS AT THAT TIME!!!!it was so fun!!!

@heloisamariani yeah we only had a thousand missiles pointing at all out cities that could usher in human extinction at a moments notice.
It was FUN! :/
Just kidding. It was fun, terrible, miserable, exciting all rolled into one.
