You know, looking back at it, it floors me that CC didn't take the offer. They couldn't find anyone else to buy them, and they were heavy in debt. What did CC think was going to happen? A miraculous hike in their stock price?
Its a shame they didn't sell... CC's management guys were too greedy and stubborn to do anything that would show the slightest bit of failure.
I feel bad for all the people that lost their jobs.. Not the current people that are losing their jobs, they are the crap that CC hired to replace other people so they could pay their employees less..
No but I feel bad for the original people who lost their jobs, they were good people.
Pride is probably the stupidest thing one could have when the reality is that they are in need of real help.
Their pride got the best of them, they turned down the very thing that could've had even the slightest chance of saving them, and yes, made stupid decisions about cutting their more skilled store employees for less experienced ones.
In a way, they got what they deserved. But there are lessons in this that EVERYONE should take to heart because it affects everyone everywhere.
It's funny that this story came out, because it isn't true. I worked for CC, and they made no offer to us; they asked if they could look at our financial books so they could decide whether they wanted to make a bid or not. When they took a look, they said 'no thanks' and that was it. Now, they're having their own financial troubles.
It was those original people that were laid off for getting paid too much that was the beginning of the end for us. Phil Schoonover is completely to blame =/
Well the people getting paid too much who weren't being productive... I hate corporations that dont take much effort to look at individuals.
My father was someone who worked for Kmart before they got in trouble, and even though he took home huge commission checks (yes Kmart worked on commission, funny huh haha) he was still one of the people who got fired and then given the option to reapply at a lower rate.
He quit and got a much better job running a healthy food store.
I totally agree with you. Throwing out experienced, hard-working people just because they paid them too much and replacing them with 17 year olds who never had a job before is indicative of that.
It not only ruined the level of service, it ruined morale, so I know where you're coming from.
CC's stock is 1.69 and keeps going up and down. Circuit City is looking for a buyer right now but no one wants to buy them. If Blockbuster does buy them then CC will rent out games and movies along with selling electrical gadgets.
that was awhile ago when I posted that.... but I think it's kind of obvious that Circuit City is out of business now... I got laid off a few weeks ago. I just got my first unemployment check this week. I'm making more now than I was working. lol
ok first of all why are people putting thumbs down to my comments. I hated working at circuit city and so did majority of everyone else I knew who worked there and knew who use to work there... anyway first of all the management was missed up, they didn't know what they were doing. one would tell you one thing the other another, and also customers were dicks. no matter what we did they treated us bad.
