I believe that Michael Steele's answer to this question was the best and most complete and accurate strategy for attracting more young voters to the Republican party. Younger candidates are not the answer - Obama's age is not the reason he won the election- Obama's camp were very smart about branding and publicizing Obama to a young public, and this gap between the attractiveness of the party image to young voters needs to be bridged if we hope to revitalize and refocus the Republican party.
I know everyone likes Steele, but they need to take a look at his background- i don't think he's the best choice. Aside from Mike Duncan all the other candidates seem to be saying basically the same thing. I don't think Duncan is a good choice either- we need to be able to work together, with the Democrats in control- bi-parisianship is crucial at this juncture. This debate was not useful in helping me to make a decision.
Get rid of the RINOS in our party, starting with John McCain. He, along with the other RINOS should be forced out in the primaries. Also, keep a full court press on the Dems when they screw up, i.e., Barney Frank, Dodd and Clinton who collectively share the responsibility of this mortgage mess.
I agree with you on doing the full court press on the Democrats... however the 'Progressive' and 'Libertarian' Republicans (or RINOS as you may say) ARE historically the original Republicans going back to Goldwater, and even Lincon.
The John Birch and ex-DixieCrats (who didn't become Republican's until the 1960's) are what is preventing our party from being strong again.
they all had very good points, but chip saltsman stuck out in my mind

The Republican platform is not attractive to young people. Republicans will be out of power for a generation.
Most young people are in favor of gay marriage and other liberal policies.

Ken Blackwell would be a great RNC chairman, I wish him the best.

These people just don't understand do they? I would say this to our leadership in general though, not just the Republicans.

Michael Steele was right on target with his comments about the importance of face-to-face, local outreach to young people. That's how they roll.....

Bravo to our young republicans. Newt G. has some really good sites for educating and informing - Take notes from them!
Charlie Smith is really great! He showed dedication and care! Support him!

"All politics is local." - Tip O'Neil -
Aside from his grammatical error, Senator O'Neil was absolutely right. And so is Michael Steele for repeating that.
Also, I'm no fan of Charlie. There are way too many things that CRs should be doing that nobody knows how to do...give us a tactician, please?

I feel Katon is the best bet because he has been able to bring the party through in his state despite the strong Demo efforts there.
All of them have some good ideas. However, I do feel that we need to replace Mike Duncan.
