17 seconds to 100 in a 6 cylinder full size sedan ain't bad at all. Just get a mount for that phone so you can keep both hands on the wheel. Or a chest mount and a go pro :)
If you have 5 or 6 gears you can do it like european carmakers: 1st to 30mph, 2nd to 55mph, 3rd to 80mph ... more fun, more power, better acceleration...
@so140244 Taller gears make more of the available torque. My cruze is a perfect example of that. It has a ton of torque from 3-5k but it's wasted because of the extremelyl short gearing.
Based on the video, 0 - 100mph was @ 17.4 sec. not bad for a V-6. My 69 will do 0 - 100mph in 8.5sec. Its a little built. love how the V-6 Growls tho.

@hyedefinition1080 Just from reading the blogs and magazines I think the new trans. will eventually make it's way into just about every RWD Mopar, starting with the 6 cyl. and ending w/the SRTs. The one good thing about the 5-speed is that it seems to be incredibly robust, perfect for the higher HP.
@hyedefinition1080 Lots of reviewers seem to have a problem with the 5-spd, but they don't do their research. The new 8-spd is mainly for smoother driving and better mpg, it would barely make a difference at all in the actual acceleration of the car (about .2 seconds in the 1/4 mile). They have the 5-spd in the SRT8 because that's a more heavy duty and reliable transmission, and though it might not be as "quick" as the Tremic in the Challenger SRT8, it still does a good deal for the huge torque.

And about the transmission being slow, I do agree a bit, it should be faster than it is switching gears. I have a Mazda 6, and that car does wonders in it's transmission. I hope Dodge fixes it for 2011.:)
It gets from 0 - 50 in a reasonable amount of time. The fucking Pigs in my state look to fucking ticket you after that. 0 - 60 is decent. 0 - 100, which is a speed I rarely ever see in my SRT8 (thanks to the fucking PIGS) is basically irrelevant.
This sounds a lot like a Nissan GTR, under acceleration. Low rpm growls, it sounds like a Maybach or something waaaay more pricey. I want a V6 one, and V8! I'd twin turbo the V6, and wait until next yr, for that 392 small block with F1 paddle shifters!

The carryover 5 Speed is the drawback here, shifts are too distanced almost as if it were a 4 speed. The car's pretty much rectified pretty much everywhere else. Chrysler better High Tail it and get a new Auto in this pronto.

The axle ratio is wrong.
The 3.6 liter engine is smaller than the 5.7 V8, so it should not use the same gearing.
Even with the correct gearing, it still needs a modern transmission. (the ZF 8 speed)

@opt8va I think what he meant, was he wouldn't do that to a new car until after the break in period, which is about 500+ miles.

i got about 16 seconds... thats pretty quick for a large sedan in its class. could easily compete with the new taurus...
