you can see there at the tower at least two symbols -> snake as dolar $ and the freemasonery symbol , the song is against both what why i love it so much :)
@gosc789 NO, the song isnt about "freemasonery" nor something like that.
you should read the long history about the Albums: Metal Opera Part 1 and 2
Tobias Sammet Wrote a history... all the songs are telling us a part of the story.
The story is about an spiritual world which involves alot of characters... each character is a musician... thats why he invited all that Masters of Metal to sing in his songs...
Cant tell u more abour the story cuz i cant write that long here :p
@Sazalamel1@Sazalamel1 sadly no... only the two first albums... but well that does not make worse the scarrecrow album here is the link of the story ;) : but you will have to translate it because i found the story in spanish... i speak spanish lol :p usuarios.multimania.es/machaorl/Biografias/Avantasia.htm this is not the complete story but is amazing how a genius like Tobias make this.
Besides being an amazing song (and beautiful poetry), it contains such a great and strong message against religion and the blindness and evil it brings into our world. Hopefully, human beings will learn some day to open up their minds and to stop believing in tales, replacing them by wisdom. That's the day we'll be really free from the opression of the tirants who sell us lies and rule the world. Long live songs like this, but may the ideas they convey live longer.
Besides being an amazing song (and beautiful poetry), it contains such a great and strong message against religion and the blindness and evil it brings into our world. That's the day we'll be really free from the opression of the tirants who sell us lies and rule the world. Long live songs like this, but may the ideas they convey live longer.
@Olympicsagiita Don't bring your bias into amazing songs like this. If anything, the entire album (parts 1 and 2) are closer to being affirming of religion, and are merely critical of people who use it for their own selfish aims, or to try to make the populace lethargic and stupid 'for their own good.' Which is totally legitimate.
@Elusareth Tobias is actually for "religion" as in believing in god(s) but against "religion" as in the church or any similair organisation and the political influence it has (plus dogma's, discrimination agianst other religions etc.). The first has a lot of positive uses, the second tends to lead to a lot of idiocy. But in no way does he condemn believing he actually encourages it. Would be nice if more people would agree with him.
@Elusareth First of all, giving out an opinion is bringing bias, just like you are doing now, so I'll do it and I'll let you do it too. That's the beauty of it, giving opinions whenever we want to. Secondly, if these songs were religion affirming, why would they, for example, depict the Pope as someone who wants to keep people blind? In any case, I'm sure you are in a way misunderstanding me, for, after all, my problem lies in trying to convince others of one's points of view. (continues)
@Olympicsagiita I don't have a problem with you expressing an opinion. The problem is when the opinion seems to derive meaning from a song that the song seems to obviously not give (for an example, a lot of people think that the Tenth Avenue North song 'By your side' is a romantic song). I mean, ultimately, there's probably nothing wrong with you taking whatever meaning you want out of it, since it's theoretically harmless anyway, but it does create a point of contention.
@Olympicsagiita Tobias in the whole Metal Opera thing, seems to discuss a fundamental problem with many people who consider themselves authority figures in religions, and not with the religion itself. This isn't really that close to your message which was 'stop believing in fairy tales.' Faith isn't something any one person should be in charge of dictating, to the point that it can cause massive harm to a lot of people (which happens in the album, and has also happened historically).
It's OK if you choose to believe in God, for example, but that should be your own idea, and it shouldn't affect others. That's the problem with religion, and that's what Tobbias is saying here. Believe or don't, it's OK as long as it comes from you. However, in this world, beliefs are manufactured by the people in power, and they have exert an incredible control over the weak minded. Religion is the banner of these methods of control. Sammet doesn't say "Don't believe". He says"Think and choose"
That's my whole point, and in no way it's meant to offend anybody. However, I do have a problem with your imperative way of saying "Don't issue an opinion". That's, after all, my problem with religion. You're just saying "Don't think; don't create conflict; just accept things as they are". And hell, I'd rather die before not being able to say what I think. I'm sorry if you have a problem with that, since I do accept your opinion and your different way of thinking.
@Olympicsagiita The dude is actually trying to kill the spiritual word in order to keep people dumb and controllable. That sounds pretty affirming of religion to me. It just condemns people who want to use it to control others.
I ultimately don't think we have much of a disagreement, based on the subsequent things you wrote. Your first message just sort of struck me as a 'lulz religion sux' bit, which I see all the time on a decent bit of the music I listen to.
when i showed this song to my friends first they continued talking normally and when the end begins everybody got quiet and just enjoyed this epic ballad ^^
This is asome, you know, This song it's so hard tho create, and they did it, that It's real Music, by real Artists, they are a lot of diferents bands in Avantasia, that's the reason , they are amazing!!!!!!!!
Kai's part of this always gives me goosebumps. Tobi and the other singers are great, but Kai is just on a different level in general, and that really shows here IMO. If only they'd had Hansi too, haha. Then this would really have been epic. Anyway, great song, and it actually doesn't suffer much from having to be split in two, although you didn't divide the vids at what I would consider the optimal point. Thanks for the upload.
it seems that "epic" is the favorite word for american teens. It is sad that nothing truly epic will they know in their lives, just fads and "cool" words.
My band covers this song, and we never say the name or artist at our shows. (I play the guitar, and in this song i sing the "I don't know what could I prove nothing but the cloven hoof. Babylon the scarlet whore has come" bridge and Rob Rock, Kai Hansen and David DeFeis's parts) We let people guess, and if they get both right we give them a Guitar Hero game. We have only given one out so far.
