We had Louisville on the ropes at the garden. We were just really tired in the second half. It really upset me how the commentators were giving Louisville credit, when it was clear that Syracuse just couldn't move in the second half (lazy passes, even from Flynn, bad shots, poor rotation on defense). If we see them again, I like our chances.

G-Mac holds most of the NCAA tourny records for a SU player... considering he's going against Coleman, Owens, Seikaly, Douglas, and Wallace, I'd say he's pretty darn good.
No one ever said he was the greatest player in history. Fact of the matter is that he was the MVP of SU that season and Jimmy was right, with him out of the lineup, they would have struggled to beat D-3 schools. We had Louisville on the ropes at the garden. We were just really tired in the second half. It really upset me how the commentators were giving Louisville credit, when it was clear that Syracuse just couldn't move in the second half (lazy passes, even from Flynn, bad shots, poor rotation on defense). If we see them again, I like our chances.

Grew up in the Cuse, and been a fair weather fan for many years. Not always been a Boeheim supporter but he went up 8 levels in my respect meter for the way he defended his player. a big congrats to the syracuse basketball team on their win over uconn in the big east tourney their 6 overtime win was one of the best big east games ever played. probably the best big east tourney game ever played. it was the most impressive performance i have seen from a team in a long time. and although uconn played one hell of a game. and both teams deserved to win. i was really impressed the way the cuse refused to quit when they were down and rally for the win hats off to the cuse

A lot of terrific collegeplayers never make it to the next level. It doesn't hide the fact that Mac was an excellent player for the 'Cuse, and I probably saw him many more times than you. He single-handedly carried the team into the tournament his senior year-while playing most of the last third of the season with a bad groin. If you had half a brain, you'd know the difference between a good college player and NBA talent. There are many good college players who cannot cut it in the NBA but that does not make them bad at the college level. I was never a fan of Syracuse or McNamara but watched the championship game, Carmelo didn't win that game, McNamara did in the first half. Jim Boeheim has nearly 800 career wins, I think he may know a bit more about hoops then you or I.

McNamara could have averaged 1.8 points in the regular season for all I care... point of fact, he singlehandedly WON more games for SU than he underperformed and/or LOST for them. The only real season is the postseason. G-Mac holds most of the NCAA tourny records for a SU player... considering he's going against Coleman, Owens, Seikaly, Douglas, and Wallace, I'd say he's pretty darn good.

No one ever said he was the greatest player in history. Fact of the matter is that he was the MVP of SU that season and Jimmy was right, with him out of the lineup, they would have struggled to beat D-3 schools. It was very fitting that 1 week after the B.S. article came out that Gerry McNamara won/tied the games in the Big East tourny. PG's never get any of the respect or props they deserve for running the entire offense, which is what Gerry did fantastically for 4 years, regardless of stats
