This is super, thanks for sharing! Yes, it's amazing how much plant material is needed to collect the oil. I ran lavender in mine the other day and got 11ml - which I was pleased about. Jason
@Koiboy70 I was pleasantly surprised by my lavender yield the one time I distilled lavender. I have a video called distilling jen's lavender, or something like that. You can check it out if you want. I have more details about how much lavender I distilled and my yield that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Thats great Bonnie and Anthony. And three wonderful children you have. I am watching your sage essential oil. WOW what a video. Thanks for your kind words. This is Anthony Z. We talked the other day from Rainier Distillers
I enjoyed this! It reminds of why EO's are so costly. I was just in my local herbalist store yesterday complaining about how much certain EO's cost vs others. Now that I see it makes alot of sense! Sage smells awesome too! Thank you for sharing this
@mjone135 Yes, exactly. A lot of people don't realize how much plant material you need in order to make EOs. If you see EOs really cheap somewhere they have probably been cut with something to add more volume. As with anything, you get what you pay for. Glad you enjoyed the video! You should see how the women in Africa are making shea butter, you won't complain about those prices either, lol. Look up "Shea: From Nuts to Butter" and watch that. It's so awesome.
@traveln3 Yes, you only get a small amount of essential oil for a large amount of plant material. Some plants yield higher or lower than what you see here. I am going to try to post more videos showing other plants as I do them. Yes, the oil is extremely concentrated and has a strong sage smell. The major manufacturers of essential oils have very large distillers and acres of plants. If only... :)
