I think the older celebrities and songs promoted the green movement more than anyone today does. The music back the, I am pretty much talking about 75% of it, made people want to be in the country and preserve the nature. Now, all the music is about clubbin it up. But today they preach it outside of the music, but not in their music. Back then they either did both or just music. Let the music do the talkin. Kept their political views fairly quiet
I never really cared for Denver, but I have to admit that his picking is quite good, and the melody of this song is brillant. Plus signing with Johnny Cash makes it cool.
I think Johnny Cash made anyone who he sang with cool. So now I guess because Johhny Cash endorsed him, I like him too
I was driving in Turkey during Desert Storm with my 702 (admin assistant) and this song came on Armed Forces Radio and I started siging and my 702 sang to and then Ifound out he as from West virginia! Weare still firends today after almost 20 years!!
This really is a treasure, and it sad to think how it is a part of history, that can never be experienced again, except for watching a video of it. But, we should be glad that we at least have had this experience.
I love this song....I live in the city these days, but I grew up in the backwoods. I miss those days, every time I hear this song, I remember driving down the dirt driveway to my parents place years ago. Great stuff!
There is just a certain magic in this, that is hard to put into words. You can not hear this song, and not feel something from it, something that just touches you inside, a kind of nostalgia for times past that will not ever happen again.
brilliant!

This is one song I'd have loved Cash to have done on one of his American albums.

Great... By the way: Johnny sings "Teardrops in HER eye" instead of "in MY eye"! (1:07) Quite funny. But i think Johnny Cash is allowed to do that ;)

Is this version of Take Me Home, Country Roads on one of Johnny Cash's or John Denver's albums? If so, what's the name of that album?

It is probably a spot and appearance done for Cash's variety show in the seventies; I know Denver was a guest for sure.
