it's not Ryan's fault that Joel doesn't talk much. Joel is naturally quiet and shy and someone has to step up and answer the quesitons. And frankly, i believe Ryan answered the interviewer's quesitons quite well and he's pretty funny. So back off.

I wouldn't blame Ryan. As a journalist myself, I can tell you that it is primarily the interviewer who determines who speaks in a group setting like this. It's all about eye contact and nodding. If the interviewer wanted the star of the movie to speak, for example, the thing to do is look him in the eye and nod towards him. That sends the cue that it is his turn to speak.
