You cannot overlook the terrible effects of the army purges of the '30's- part of a deliberate Nazi strategy- that convinced Stalin that the armed forces officer class was full of traitors. Whether or not this was even partially true is debatable, but the substitution of professional soldiers with political appointees meant the Red Army had to be rebuilt, and most unfortunately that had to be done while an invasion of the USSR was in progress. But, in the end, the USSR did win WWII.

Who fought the longest, hardest and gave it their best? You and history have the same answer - the Soviet troops.
that's a stereotype applicable only to some instances during the war. during the epic retreats of the summer of 41 and the following fall/winter, yes, there were many raw recruits thrown right at the enemy but they were mixed in with siberian divisions that were well trained and equipped. the stereotype about stalingrad soldiers being poorly trained comes from shit like enemy at the gates. many were recruited en masse, yes, but its not like they went straight to the front.

yes the germanys were in the ww2 super soldiers ... but sowiets dont have poor guns .....the ppsh 41 was better then the mp32 or the thompshon ...
