I had this happen to me when I ate up a mustang called the"cherry bomb", supposed to be the fastest mustang in the south. The "muscle guy" came to me after and said I knew you would win, b/c you have a 12 cylinder! Then he was embarrased when I told him--only a 4 cyl. I didn't like when they put the V8 in the Esprit, because it took away the one thing that appealed to me about them. The Esprit was really an underdog supercar. Originally and up to a certain year, I'm not really sure when, the Esprit had been a four cylinder engined car. This was a major kick in balls to the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. Here was a car that looked just as good as they did, and could hang with them to a degree but will only half or one third the cylinders.

@redmr2na Agree, I own a 1990 Esprit SE and there is nothing better than the look on the face of "muscle cars" owners when they find out that the car that left them in the dust has only a 2.2L, 4 cylinder heart in it.

why does the old v8 esprit like this one sounds like a flatplane v8, and the new esprit sounds like a regular crossplane v8. am i answering myself? what is the difference with both engines? i don´t know too much about lotus.

The previous owner installed the exhaust and the receipt says it was from a Camaro actually. Hope this helps.

Wait, what? I'm almost a million percent sure that can't be possible. Are there any other details? Maybe just the muffler? Because no other exhaust component would be interchangeable, I don't think.

No its ot a Stock Exhaust, My Dad Has a Lotus Esprit Turbo S4 With a Stock Exhaust And It Doesnt Sound Anywhere As Nice As That.
