That's because the song is sung from the point of view of the rather evil Morgan La Fae, who was the mother of the equally evil Prince Mordred. It's based on the Camelot legends-----Due to some scheming by Morgan and a case of mistaken identity on the part of King Arthur, Mordred was King Arthur's son as well as his nephew. Morgan raised him to hate his father and go after his throne, hence the very twisted 'lullaby'.

If you're refering to the song, it's not from any one book or movie. Mordred's Lullaby is based on the Arthurian Tales, in which Mordred is the bastard son of King Arthur by his sister Morgaine, or Morgan le Fey. Since there are so many versions, it's difficult to say where Heather Dale (the singer) got her inspiration for the song.

@angel1446: I´m not sure, but I think you can read it in the original Lord of the Rings-books. In the appendix, as far as I can remember. It was long ago since I´ve read the book last. And I´ve got the German version.

I also read fanfiction (for those who don't care for it, bugger off, I don't care), and any good LotR fanfic author usually reads up on the characters background information so they have a timeline, personality, and past events to work with.

Ever wonder why Legolas and Frodo were mad at each other? I mean, during the entire trilogy, even in the extended versions, they never speak a word to each other. Not one. Even at the end when Frodo is laying in bed, he calls out the name of everyone who walks into the room...except Legolas. The closest either one of them came to speaking to one another was during the Council when Legolas said "And you have my bow." Of course, he was mostly speaking to the council and not Frodo directly.

@jinglebells1995 I have no idea. Perhaps when Elrond announded they were to be called "The Felloowship of the Ring", Legolas thought Frodo had taken his spot or something. My second guess is that Elrond had given Legolas's overnight bed, the one he slept in whenever he dropped by, to Frodo. Perhaps he felt left out after that.  That's the only thing I can think of. Either that or at dinner that night Frodo ate all the Lembas bread before Legolas could get a piece. Who knows?

There are actually 2 different Legolas Greenleaf characters in Tolkien's Middle Earth, in case anyone was interested. One is the character we all know and love and the other is from The Lost Tales and The Unfinished Tales Tolkien started but never finished. He is actually over 7,000 years old and is much older than Elrond. In fact, he actually saves Elrond's human father and elvish mother from an invasion in Gondolin from the forces of Melkor led by the price of the Balrog's, Gothmog.

Morgan teaches her son from cradle that his father (Arthur) has stolen the throne from her.

Shw believes that it is up to Mordred to get it back, even if it means he will die.
