@AxRbuck I get the last laugh on this one. I heard he was taken. What the asshole didn't know is that I gave him medications a few times to control parasites. @12ArmyStar Awwwww cry me a river poor baby. Look at the year this was taken and read the description very very carefully. He was never contained or confined for that matter. Next time get the facts before you flame.
@12ArmyStar omg what a mouth on you. despicable and shameless. didn't your mother teach you any manners? didn't they teach you to be respectful in the army? so its a crime to help out a fawn but its ok to kill a deer. whatever. i'm glad these people helped out the little fawn. you big potty mouth.
Did you put the collar on the deer, or did you find him that way?
How do you know if he was shot? (I ask because....it takes a real piece of sh*t to shoot a fawn, or at least, a deer that is clearly semi-tame. If it wasn't tame, why would it have a color on it?)
This is someone's pet, he is so tame and has a collar. Didn't you check around neighbourhood for the owner..? A cutie like that shouldn't be left alone, dogs could chase her, or evil humans would barbacue her!
i'll change my statement a little.... if you don't live in convential, walmart-a-few-blocks-away society, and you are, say, native american and live on your own land and you are going to bless the animal, approach it gently, use every single part of that animal to survive, then that is a dignified, natural thing. It is still sad, but any other variation of hunting is an act of senseless murder. Just because animals can't speak for themselves, why does that make them second-class citizens?

bear54935 not all hunters are assholes? reaaaaallly? uhhhm you are killing something that has a right to live just like a person, you worthless piece of shit. all hunters are wastes of life, i hope one of the animals you are trying to shoot learn to shoot you
Hunting isn't always bad when it is done the right way. I know far too many people that will shoot just about anything simply because they can. Anything from wild game to "stray" cats and dogs. That really really disgusts me to no end. I tried hunting when I was a kid because that was a rite of passage and didn't like it one bit. I like fishing better because I can always throw fish back into the water.
That be nice to own a deer, especially this kind of deer. Get it when it is a fawn, play with it, run with it and care for it. I can play with it all day during my days off at work or something. DO some a lot of running.lol When i get a big place, I am planning to own a deer. (not really sure which kind) I read that deers are really good pets. But, if i own one and when he gets to an old adult, i will let him free, unless he chooses to stay. But this vid. is inspiring. thanks
you said that you would want to legally keep the fawn. if you do or did don't you dare fence the animal up, he/she might stay, but they should have the freedom to come and go, if he/she really likes yall theyll stay.
You don't get it do you? You obviously don't understand the nature of animals or the laws regarding animals. I wasn't legally able to keep him so he "came and went as he pleased." He obiviously went onto public grounds and was shot as a result. As with any pet, you are legally obligated to keep them under control whether it be dogs, cats, goats, deer, or whatever.
My family used to live next to a family that had 2 pet deer(not simultaniously), Shadow & Lightbuck. Like most pet deer, they were fading glories. Wild game that lose their fear of Man will walk right into a hunter's gunsights.
We have several huge bucks that come out in the morning and early afternoon to eat apples that fall off my 4 trees. It is nice to watch them. I'm not totally against controlled hunting, however, it really bothers me when hunters kill just about anything just because they enjoy killing.

Yeah, I've done it. Several states have had numerous deer slaughters over the disease. With cows and other farm animals we can easily pinpoint the cause of the problem. With wild game we have no idea where the disease comes from.
There was a video on yahoo a few years ago the covered a BSE type story out West where 6 people died from a degenerative brain disorder. The only common link was the wild game they ate. The morticians where even afraid to touch the bodies. I never heard if it was verified or not.
lol cute ive add a few fawns come into my yard and play... and had one that never left and now hangs with my horses and cows lol i like that it chased ur kids lol just like a dog

Anyways, crazy video. Never seen anyone pet a deer before. Well, at least not a live one.
Please, please do not collar wildlife! In my work as a wildlife rehab volunteer, I have seen wild "pets" dead from a collar getting caught on a branch, and I have cut collars off that were embedded in other animals' necks. Infection, maggots, agony -- not a pretty site.

His mother is nowhere to be seen and he is malnourished because assholes have rubbed their stinky, human scented hands all over him, so she got scared and abandoned him.
No, because the asshole neighbors had to log 10 acres of ground below me separating him from his mother. He was starving and dehydrated when we found him. I have never ever seen a fawn wander around in the open let alone approach a dog. Wasn't my damned fault!
Unfortunately many fawns that are found are thought abandonded and picked up. Fawns are predispositioned to hide as they do not run well yet. They are well camoed and predators can't smell them as have no scent until older. Mamma deer has usually run off and will come back soon. Once a fawn is handled the doe will usually not accept it back. It's best to leave them alone. Also, the fawn will lose it's fear of humans and become an easy target for hunters. Good intentions gone bad.
Where I'm at the Doe leaves them in the alfalfa fields and the poor things get caught in the haybine and ripped to shreds. The one we had was pratically at my front door. He was really dehydrated. The loggers had him flushed out.
I just happened to had a little Water Deer which I guess about one month or less.
My parents went to mountain to mow grass and found this little one.. must the mom went away with other babies cause my father was doing that by machine so they got scared..
So then I started to raise that little one but I could see deer's tear..I couldn't stand that anymore..so gave back to original place where we found..just after four days later..
Im not against hunting, as long as it is completely legal, and every part of the deer is put to good use. Humans are not built to be herbivores, we are omnivores, beings that eat both plants and animals. And I also believe that hunting is way less stressful, and painful to the animal. I am completely against hunting purely for sport. If it were possible I would ban sport hunting, but its not. Something the ALF needs to understand. Animals eat other animals.
In 2003 I saw a boy and his dog playing with a doe with a nerf football..The Dog chased the Doe and The doe chased the dog and the deer actually was playing with the nerf stomping on it and kicking it....I couldnt believe my eyes..I asked the boy is that his pet deer and he said it wandered in his yard as a fawn and he fed it and it visited him ever since..That fall a bow hunter shot that doe and broke that kids heart..
Hunting keeps the population in cdheck. There aren't a whole lot of natural predators in these residential areas, donchaknow. Overpopulation lets disease and parasitism run rampant, and limiting resources and overgrazing destroy the ecosystem, not to mention the stress of overcrowding. There are quotas for hunters so that they can only cull a small number each year. It would be irresponsible not to hunt in areas where natural predation is insufficient to keep the population in check.
There will be hell to pay for the deer population here in Pa if any are found to have the chronic wasting disease which is similar to mad cow disease.
yikes, they might have to take out the whole population in that area. It's almost impossible to treat a wild population. You have to get the treatment (pills?) into the right animals (and only those animals) at the right dose over the whole population. That's pretty hard to do in a non-contained environment.
I think I've heard about that, I go to Michigan State (zoology). I heard in a couple of my classes that there has been an outbreak of chronic wasting disease, or something like that. By the way, I think it's great that you can adopt a deer as a pet and still see the importance of hunting. A lot of people (see above and below) can only see poor Bambi, but I'm sure many of them would prefer humane euthenasia to starving to death. It's hard to appreciate the "one for many" approach these days.
Fuck you! I'm a hunter. It's my right to hunt. I will say that I wouldn't shoot a deer wearing a collar though. It's obviously someone's pet. I'd be to afraid it belonged to some kid, and I wouldn't want to hurt the poor kids feelings. I'd seriously have to let a collared deer pass my stand.
whear do u get a pet deer i want one soooooooooooooooo bad and u shouldent reliece a tamed deer into the wild theay wont know how to survive coust all there meals r handed 2 them
Deer that used to people shouldn't be released into the wild. It may be their home, but once they're accustomed to us it's too dangerous for them and people.
I think that I may have seen him a day after the season was over but I can't be sure. Rumor has it that he was shot. Yet, that can't be proven either. I had him on meds for parasite control so if he was shot and somebody ate him then they get what they deserved. He was clearly marked not to be touched. A blind man could've seen that.
it's a cute one , but why does it wear necklace ?? i mean , do you use it as a pet ? :/ if you have it as a pet i think that it's really poor about him/her, i mean not to sound mean but wild animals can't be
The collar has a bell on it so we can hear him when he wants to come in or wants fed. He has lost his spots about two months ago and only shows up at the house during the evening.
to my knowledge, any game animal is considered to belong to any citizen in whatever state of the U.S. whether its on private land or not. Anyone can keep one if you're lucky to have one that friendly, plus hoping that it doesn't hop or cross your property line cause if does its considered to be fair game to hunters! to be safe, if you decide to keep it, put a collar around it! i hunt myself & I would never want to kill a tame friendly deer pet! Good Luck with your deer!
the law where I live, in PA, is that you are not allowed to pen\cage a wild animal without a license from the dept. of agriculture. since the fawn is not in a cage they should be ok. fawns will not travel too far away either so if they have a large portion of ground the fawn will be ok too. Lucky kids, cool video! :)
@Bear54935 hmm next time you kill such a beautiful animal even though there is more than enough food to go around already, I would liek to see you kill that deer WITHOUT a gun or knife ect.
He's going bye byes!! hehe... so cute. Man, I would have loved to have been able to run w/ a fawn as a kid. But we had dogs, so it was all good. :] Best f luck with Bambi! If you do decide to keep him I hope he doesn't turn out to be too aggressive as an adult.
They do get aggressive during the rut, but I really don't have to worry about it until the Summer/Fall of 2008. I really doubt that he will stick around till then. My biggest worry is all the hunters. My ground is posted but he is fair game if he wanders someplace he shouldn't. There are idiots out there that would kill a fawn.
hmm im kinda torn in 2 directions here. One part of me says cool and im pretty jelous that you get to hang out with that deer. but the other part says its a wild animal and should be treated as such,no names, no collars. hmmm dont know which way i would go if i were in you shoes.i do agree though I am a hunter and in the past i have filled my antlerless tags with yearling deer but im thinking i wouldnt shoot one with a collar.

Good intentions gone bad.
negril94 3 years ago
Where I'm at the Doe leaves them in the alfalfa fields and the poor things get caught in the haybine and ripped to shreds. The one we had was pratically at my front door. He was really dehydrated. The loggers had him flushed out.
cowman1970 3 years ago
So how big is the deer now? Do you still have it?
DJCaesar 3 years ago
No, he disappeared during the second week of deer season in 2007. Others said they did see him since then. Not sure if that's true.
cowman1970 3 years ago
your kids gonna scare the poor thing hahah

Lovely..
It just remainds me of that memory..

MSUBooBoo 3 years ago
There will be hell to pay for the deer population here in Pa if any are found to have the chronic wasting disease which is similar to mad cow disease.
cowman1970 3 years ago

yikes, they might have to take out the whole population in that area. It's almost impossible to treat a wild population. You have to get the treatment (pills?) into the right animals (and only those animals) at the right dose over the whole population. That's pretty hard to do in a non-contained environment.

I think a massive kill has happened already in Michigan.
cowman1970 3 years ago
I think I've heard about that, I go to Michigan State (zoology). I heard in a couple of my classes that there has been an outbreak of chronic wasting disease, or something like that. By the way, I think it's great that you can adopt a deer as a pet and still see the importance of hunting. A lot of people (see above and below) can only see poor Bambi, but I'm sure many of them would prefer humane euthenasia to starving to death. It's hard to appreciate the "one for many" approach these days.
MSUBooBoo 3 years ago
The government should install a quota to hunt you and your neighborhood as well, sicko.
Striker4928 3 years ago

Deer that used to people shouldn't be released into the wild. It may be their home, but once they're accustomed to us it's too dangerous for them and people.
Omnitrix12 4 years ago
Have you seen him since hunting season started? I'm so worried for his safety out there.
GirlAtTheFrontDesk 4 years ago
I think that I may have seen him a day after the season was over but I can't be sure. Rumor has it that he was shot. Yet, that can't be proven either. I had him on meds for parasite control so if he was shot and somebody ate him then they get what they deserved. He was clearly marked not to be touched. A blind man could've seen that.
cowman1970 4 years ago
God me too. Hopefully the hunters don't hunt fawns. Murders :(

it's a cute one , but why does it wear necklace ?? i mean , do you use it as a pet ? :/ if you have it as a pet i think that it's really poor about him/her, i mean not to sound mean but wild animals can't be
treat like pets..

The collar has a bell on it so we can hear him when he wants to come in or wants fed. He has lost his spots about two months ago and only shows up at the house during the evening.

MSUBooBoo 3 years ago
to my knowledge, any game animal is considered to belong to any citizen in whatever state of the U.S. whether its on private land or not. Good Luck with your deer!
jl2box 4 years ago 4
the law where I live, in PA, is that you are not allowed to pen\cage a wild animal without a license from the dept. of agriculture. since the fawn is not in a cage they should be ok. fawns will not travel too far away either so if they have a large portion of ground the fawn will be ok too. Lucky kids, cool video! :)

rednop44 4 years ago
Little kids playing with a fawn, this is something really special. Not to mention super lucky.
Digitalfairy 4 years ago 5
I heard a good idea is to put a reflective collar on their necks. It'll keep the local hunters aware that he is a pet.
LarkPash 4 years ago 2
That is a great idea. Especially since he'll be very used to people and won't be wary of a**hole hunters. Best of luck with him!
Coloradorit 4 years ago
Not all hunters are assholes!!! Only an asshole would assume that!!!! I wouldn't shoot a deer with a collar, and I'm a hunter.
Bear54935 2 years ago 14
@Bear54935 hmm next time you kill such a beautiful animal even though there is more than enough food to go around already, I would liek to see you kill that deer WITHOUT a gun or knife ect.
belfnelfmania 1 year ago
@Bear54935 I would wonder why the deer has a collar...... then drop the hammer on him.

cute deer, cute kids, they are all very lucky to live with a yard so big to run & play with a deer! bye byes ;)
kmf78 4 years ago 3
He's going bye byes!! hehe... so cute. Man, I would have loved to have been able to run w/ a fawn as a kid. But we had dogs, so it was all good. :] Best f luck with Bambi! If you do decide to keep him I hope he doesn't turn out to be too aggressive as an adult.
UnicornSpirit 4 years ago 2
They do get aggressive during the rut, but I really don't have to worry about it until the Summer/Fall of 2008. I really doubt that he will stick around till then. My biggest worry is all the hunters. My ground is posted but he is fair game if he wanders someplace he shouldn't. There are idiots out there that would kill a fawn.
cowman1970 4 years ago
hmm im kinda torn in 2 directions here.
