@CHAPxKILLA you just need to tune it..Factory break in is rich on the high speed needle.. Lean it out a 1/4 turn at a time until performance doesn't get better then back off a 1/4 turn.. After that, it'll be hard to keep the front wheels on the ground
How do you do a wheelie on a rc truck? I just got a T-MAXX 3.3 and I broken in the engine. But when I accelerate and the front wheels don't lift. Any help?
@CHAPxKILLA if it is tuned, properly, then you need to tighten the slipper clutch, the tight it is more torque it will have. some people dont like wheelies so they have it looser.
i spent over 450 bucks on my t maxx end nevr learned how to tune it right i would turn the thing and nothing would happen i had alot of fun with it til i crashed it when the remote died andthe truck whent full speed into a wall....... im over rc cars and just bougt me a yz250 dir bike i hope the same doesnt happed again lol
@firmclock thats true i have the original model rustler with a komodo dragon 19turn motor all i need is a new esc its electric so it only goes around 15mph
@Luke you may be to rich or lean turn you high speed needle ( easiest to see on top) crank all the way in and back it out 2.25 turns. Also a not recommended way I always start mine is plug your pipe for a couple seconds with your finger it's almost like a choke. Usualy you don't have to mess with the low speed needle witch is on the part of carb that moves when you give it gas I am at 1 full turn out from all the way in. Hope it helps!

nice, i was doin wheelies with my truck and end up flipping it causing it to do 7 cartwheels in the air lol. Broke the whole front right side. Snapped a wheel off and the drive shaft fell out. But she'll be fixed soon :P
can anybody tellme why, my tmaxx 2.5 steering is dodgy i pick up put it on its back and turn wheels left it goes left then right but it seems to jutter and not very powerfull ( it runs on duracel batteries)
i got a t-maxx 3.3 an mine wnt do weelies it jus grips and it goes like a bat outa hell i iant never been beat even wen i raced a bja 5b but mine wnt do weelies
to make more power you would lean it out not richen it
To give it the best chance make the ride height really high and the suspension very stiff in the rear. I also suggest to tighten the slipper very tight like 1/10 turn from closed be sure not to do any jumps with it this tight as it could damage the driveline components
it depends on how u tune it or how much weight transfer u have, or if u have a rollcage, it is very hard to throw wheelies... read the traxxas tuning for bottom end... if u have any questions, just reply back... :) thanks, Brayden

yea but to much fuel is as bad as not enough. The meth and nitro will wash the cylinder walls of oil, causing premature failure, a little rich is one thing, that was terriblely rich
what the hell are you talking baout? THE OIL THAT LUBRICATES IT IS IN THE FUEL!
overly rich settings dont wash oil off of the engine parts, it lubricates them better then a normal tune would. a normal tune is less fuel consuming, gives better power, and makes the engine run hotter. traxxas engines run too hot and sometimes need to be kept a little richer than a typical race tune. yes, it is very rich in the video, but he still has enough power and the engine will last 10+ gal. like that

I've got one of the origina .17 Tmaxxes. Well, there isn't much original any more as it's been converted to a .21 with titanium hardcore chassis and skids, rpm arms and a whack of other stuff...these dang trucks are tough! Mine has the original tranny with 2 forward and 1 reverse gears, still stock and still rock solid. I had a robinson steel spur but the .21 kept eating pinions so went back to a plastic spur..much cheaper to replace a plastic spur than a clutch bell. :D
The 2.5 has a black tranny, that is completly diff than the new grey 3.3 tranny. And a stock black tranny has 2spd forward and 2spd reverse. ChicagoBears1... yeah that steel spur gear is so nice to have, but i also switched out all the internal gears with steel ones. The stock plastic spur held up for a while, untill rocks got stuck in it and knocked some teeth off. Robinson Racing has done a very nice job with their gears, i highly recommend them to anyone.
I have the original 2.5 t-maxx, the very first 2.5 had carb problems. So now i put a new 3.3 in it. It was crazy powerfull but would not do wheelies for me. BUT, as soon as i put that resonator pipe on it pulls wheelies easily, couldnt beleive it. I also bought Robinson Racing full steel kit for my tranny, and took the reverse out.
The T-Maxx in this video looks like a 3.3 but I could be wrong.
To answer your question 1993TMAXX, a stock 2.5 does have reverse. That's what I have...a 2.5 although it is no longer stock, the transmission still is stock though. That thing pulls wheelies like there is no tomorrow, and you don't have to hit reverse first. :-)
I'm positive that the Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 has reverse. I have one. The model that does not come with reverse is the Sportmaxx model. You must have the Sportmaxx, or bought a used T-Maxx on which the reverse gear was removed. I bought the gear that converts the T-Maxx to forward only. i am trying to shave off as much weight as possible. I took off the EZ starter and installed a pull starter. I also bought some Proline wheels and tires, which weigh a lot less than the stocks ones. WHEELIES!
No, I have the box and its the Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5. Because I think when you have a reverse, it takes away one of the foward gears instead of having no reverse and 2 foward gears. Im not shure, I have my remote and it shows the button on it to put it in reverse and i pull the throtle and it doesnt move at all. It maybe because you have a different transmition than I do.
If your T-Maxx is bone stock and your box says T-Maxx 2.5 on it, and not Sportmaxx, then you will want to troubleshoot why it does not go in reverse when you hit the switch. Start by changing out your batteries! I have the same transmission as you do.
The owner changed a few things. One person on youtube already told me that if you change it to a reverse tranny, It will go less faster than the one with forward only because forward has 2 gears but you can get an upgraded on that has reverse and 2 gears for forward. He might of changed the tranny, I dont know. I just when and checked on my box and it says, 2 speed forward and reverse. He might of changed the tranny or maybe its because he changed it to the transmitter that the savage uses.
