I really, really enjoyed this. Gorgeous cinematography, good editing, overall well done!! Film is film, DV still doesn't come anywhere near it. Kind of near it I guess.
the picture really has a 1970's feel to it, especially the closeups in the beginning. it reminds me of movies like "the omen". great work there, unbelievable budget!!!!
You're a genius, that was stunning. I really was laughing out loud when they were running around the kitchen and stuff. Everything about it was bang on, the shots, lighting, acting. I'm a fan Lee, good luck!
Well Done! 16mm is a great format. Like you say, when film/processing etc costs so much, you really have to storyboard and even animatic before shooting on film. Well done with the lights. Its inspiring to know film makers like yourself are still out there. Whats your next idea? Cant wait to see it...
Hey. Nice film. im just about to shoot a short film on a 16mm Arri camera at university. im abit aprehensive about a 4:1 cutting ratio as im used to shhoting with video. you must have had to been very selective with your shots.
Hi Chris Yep, that's the Century right there. The first three wide interior shots are with the 5.7 too. Great lens - set the aperature and off ya go! Thanks for your kind comments. Lee
I will love to see a making off! I am very interested in the beans can. Souns very innovative! No kidding, I think that the whole process is what is interesting in your short. The idea is good, but the cinematography you achieved with such low budget...great! Please, post a making off in case you have one.
Hi Colin I paid 2K for the BL. I used the blimped zoom, a Zeiss 8mm and a Century 5.7. The stock was Kodak (obviously tungsten) KODAK VISION 500T/7279 COLOUR NEGATIVE FILM. Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, the BL is a little workhorse and easy to load. Used an electronic light meter which is compatible with 180 degree shutter. Lee
thats the liberal version of things most gun owners dont keep guns in a shoebox loaded wit a bullet in the chamber and the safty off what would be the point of having a gun ready to fire and then have it so they cant get to it quick
My father has a fire-arms certificate and keeps his weapons secured in a safe. The premise of my film is that it isn't guns that kill; it's stupid gun owners. Are you arguing that nobody has been killed by a firearm becasue of irresponsible owners? If so, you're wrong. You missed the point of my film, dude. To repeat: stupid people kill, not the gun itself.
Very well done matey! Bit of a sudden change in tone (maybe the music choice?) but extremely well put together. I too was looking for evidence the Arri BL was worth the money and I can rest assured it sure is (so long as it's used properly!). Great work.
Thanks for your kind remarks. I'm really pleased with the performance I got from Richard and the boy. Check out Camping; Richard plays a blinder in it. Thanks again. Lee
Great mini film the actual gunshot Effect could've sounded better.

Hey, yes 16mm is awesome. Sold the camera, tho, just recently. Going digital. Shooting 16mm on a budget is TOO limiting, creatively.

my heart jumped at the beginning and end.

The beginning reminds me of the Hammer House of Horror movies. I must say it looks similar to HD which is what I used for my music video.
