these freight trains ,obviously they are loaded very heavily, but even on the flat they seem to run slowly, i`m guessing they are speed limited, or is it they are always maxed out? great clip by the way.
Thankyou for posting this video. Excellent footage and editing, well done. Its good for all us VR nuts over here on the eastern corridor that cant easily make trips out west. Love the 'camera in the ballast' shot. Camera almost got collected by what looks like a hose at 4:15!! Again thankyou for posting this video.
The camera used for this film was a Canon MD225 with a Rode external shotgun mic. Adobe Premier CS3 was used for editing, and Windows Movie Maker for titles and changing the format from AVI to WMV for quicker uploading.
We now both use MD225's, although Andy only recently got his, and hasn't filmed much with it yet. Most of Andy's video footage has been filmed with a Sony handycam, using the camera's internal microphone.
Yes this is a great help as I will now up load in WMV as almost all of my uploads are in AVI,I just use whats on my Fuji finepix F5600 its all I have at the moment and is better than nothing.
The camera was actually around 3 or 4 inches below the railhead, so at worst it would have fallen on it's side. I used an old Panasonic handy cam bought from Cash Converters for that shot.
Great Video mate!

It was pretty risky to place the camera in the middle of the track, but it was worth it! Excellent views! I like it!

Fantastic. Australia must be the only country where you can watch preserved diesels at work on everyday freight trains.
