They seriously need to release Shining Time Station on DVD. While yes I know they still make Thomas & Friends dvds aimed towards kids today, I'm sure people who grew up watching this in the late 80s and early 90s would buy it. I knew Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor before I knew he was member of the Beatles (I was a kid at the time, give me a break).
Funding for Shining Time Station was made possible in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and by the financial support of Viewers Like You.
awesome shots of UP 8444 when she was run alot back in the late 70's or 80's it looks like here. You can still see the old cheyenne roundhouse before they tore down a majority of it in 1982. i think only 7 of the 49 stalls remain today.
the good old days :) why the heck did they have to freakin scew up Thomas?!It was such a great show!!Scew Hit Entertainment! I want the Britt Alcroft Company back!!!
i'll be 20 in April. I used to watch this when I was a kid all the time when it came on PBS. Trains were my biggest love and they still are. I loved every minute of each episode of this series.
I got ahold of Jason Woliner- Matt! I am going to send him Shining Time Station photos to sign. Bloodenator, do you know where I can find more photos of Matt than the one on Shining Time University?
im 14 and somehow i can still remember watching this show with my grandma very vividly but everyone else who seems to have watched this is like 20 how is that possiable?
well, I'm 16, so im not too far from you. This is just the kind of thing that sticks to ur mind. I can remember watching cartoons with my grandpa when I was less than 5, so it isn't unusual.
This is great. I'm 21, listening to this music just transports me back to my childhood and everything I used to enjoy. Transports me to a time and place when I was happiest.
I wish they had shows like these now. Growing up in the 80's and early 90's were the best times. We had thinks to look forward to! On the weekdays, we could come home from school, relax, and watch shows like these. On the weekends, we could watch sat cartoons. When I have kids, I will be worried, because they don't have shows like these anymore. They have stupid hannah montana and shows that make kids whining brats. If I ever get in charge of a network, I am going to bring old the tv shows back.
Thak you....This brings back some of my greatest childhood memories....Its sad that shows like these are no longer on....People and kids of todays genre have no taste or view on what childrens programming really was about...
God, what beautiful memories this brings back. The simplicity and innocence of childhood, oh how I miss it.
Other great ones: The Busy World of Richard Scarry, David the Gnome, Gullah Gullah Island, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Little Bear, Reading Rainbow.
All those who wish they were young again. Going to school coming home with no worries. Good news. When your old you can live in a retirement home and do it all over again. Instead of school you can go to the golf course or something, then come home and watch old shows on DVD.
Listening to this takes me back to my youth...And how much I miss it. When we were kids, we had nothing to really worry about. Wake up in the morning, go to school, come home...I wish I were a kid again...
Man this bring back alot of memories when I was like 8 or 10 years old , I use to watch this show even in my elementary school, my teacher use to put on tv. They should bring the the re runs....
This show bring back so much memories. I used to love this show when I was a kid. Now I'm 23, the shows back then are way better than the shows now. The shows then thought us a lot, they need to BRING THEM BACK!!!!
I remember this show when I was little! It aired on PBS until either 1996 or '97! I remember Schemer & the conductor in this show! I also remember Thomas the Tank Engine! I didn't know that Didi Conn played in this show! She played Frenchy in the movie "Grease" back in the '70s. Thanks for posting this with the funding!

This was the best incarnation of Thomas The Tank Engine. For me, this was MY show that I could never miss. When they stopped showing it, I basically bawled my eyes out.
Todays incarnation of Thomas has nothing on this.

I'm 19, and I used to watch this ALL the time on PBS. A shame they're no longer running it.

This song brings back so many memories! That big engine that is shown at the end of the song is awesome!
