I hate to agree with some of the other post but I also don't think these are Ghost Peppers. Many people are selling seeds on the internet that aren't Ghost Peppers. I get my seeds from the Chile Pepper Institute at the New Mexico State University.
In 2010 I bought some Bhut seeds off an amazon vendor. Peppers looked exactly like those in the video. Tasted & looked a lot like Red Savina. Doubt they were actually bhut. The bhut seeds that I grew this year are a different shape, are not a sweet, and are definitely hotter--

@whayisthishappening The 1 million bhut jolokia test was an outlier/anomaly, not an average. Bhut jolokias average about 600k. The Butch T is most definitely a Trinidad Scorpion. The only differences in the pods are Butch Ts are a little smaller, the skin is a little smoother, and there is slightly more variation in pod shapes. Regular Trinidad Scorpions are far higher than 300k, they average ~800k-1,200. What these guys ate is probably a Caribbean red habanero which is ~300-400k.
It's a huge problem buying pepper seeds online....so many asswipes selling seeds claiming to be BJs (when their traditional habs).....and what are you gonna do about it, as a consumer 8-10 months later?!?

It's not Jolokia! It's a Red Savina Habanero... :) Very hot, but the Jolokia is 2 to 3 times hotter than that one. Jolokia have a long shape.. it's not round like thoses :)

@thatRUGA I've actually starting experimenting with dried ghost peppers. Saw a supermarket carrying them so I figured what the hell. You can withstand small quantities and the body will adjust just fine. The tongue burning is only temporary. I think peppers have a beneficial physical effect on the body and I'm starting to have more of an appreciation for the hotter sauces like Mad Dog for instance. Time for another small sliver of ghost pepper as I type this LOL!

This is why you don't buy seeds from ebay or reimers kids, there are a lot of rip-off artists selling fake bhut jolokia seeds. That is definitely not a bhut jolokia, it's probably a Caribbean red, that is what the fake bhut jolokia seeds usually are.
Caribbean reds are slightly hotter than a normal habanero, so if you're having trouble with a caribbean red you might not want to try the real thing. :p And definitely stay away from the Trinidad Scorpions.

Definitely NOT a Bhut Jolokia.. However could be Scotch Bonnet/Jolokia hybrid or some other lantern shaped pepper. Bhut's are the traditional shape of pepper - long and thin... but looks good :)

Actually there are hotter things. Like certain hot sauces that can be as hot as 3 million scolvil. Thats 3X hotter than this pepper. There are also the hottest possible hot sauces out there like Blair's 16 which is a hot sauce with 16 million scolville.
@blarson12 Yes, true.. there are hotter things.. but the products you are referring to are made with pure capcaicin extract which is crystallized.. Blair's products use this process in their sauces. Check the label it will say extract in the ingredients. Personally I prefer true peppers :)

Those ARE NOT Bhut Jolokia peppers. They look more like a Habby's. I've grown Jolokias for about 5 years and they look nothing like the peppers this guy has. Nice try.

I'm 14 years old I got to try that today!!! I ate 3 pieaces of it and reacted pretty well! It was interesting but very tasty.. the 3 pieces i ate were about 1inch

The pepper you ate is NOT a Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper). Your pepper looks like a Red Savina habanero which is also very hot.

Definitely NOT a Bhut Jolokia.. However could be Scotch Bonnet/Jolokia hybrid or some other lantern shaped pepper. Bhut's are the traditional shape of pepper - long and thin... but looks good :)

Actually there are hotter things. Like certain hot sauces that can be as hot as 3 million scolvil. Thats 3X hotter than this pepper. There are also the hottest possible hot sauces out there like Blair's 16 which is a hot sauce with 16 million scolville.

@blarson12 Yes, true.. there are hotter things.. but the products you are referring to are made with pure capcaicin extract which is crystallized.. Blair's products use this process in their sauces. Check the label it will say extract in the ingredients. Personally I prefer true peppers :)

These peppers look more like Scotch bonnet. They are not Bhut jolokia, which are oblong and pointed and have a leathery texture, but these peppers seem to have been quite hot enough anyway.

Im also growing Ghost Peppers in my garden. Im in upstate NY. I've looked at this video and noticed that your peppers although evil looking do not look like pure ghost peppers. The ones I have are long satanic looking things not round ones like yours. Please tell me where you got your seeds. Mine are from mexico.
