  • Is it blasphemous to say I like this more than her husband's last several albums?

  • FlyLo has a song deticated to his aunt alice, theres samples of her playing the harp. Its called Alice. A similar one is called Aunties Harp

  • odd. my mother has this exact record sitting b4 me. I have the cut with the sax on m mp3 and not the flute.

  • All I can say is mmmmm!

  • This was simply beyond beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. Will definitely listen to this as oft as possible.

  • lovely...

  • God Is!

  • ABSOLUTE BEAUTY PERIOD.

  • sublime

  • One of the best pieces of music ever.

  • This & her previous album, Journey in Satchidananda, are what turned me on to Jazz, the Coltranes, & Pharoah Sandersl.... Their music inspired me, and inspire me to this day... This song introduced me to the alto flute, which is still the only time I've ever heard Pharoah play one. This & her other album also revealed to me the bliss, & the depth, of what is truly "Soul Music"....

  • Drips/Auntie's Harp off of the album Cosmogramma

  • I would never express my gatitude

  • Maravillosa música

  • wonderful--rhsc nyc

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!

  • For a better understanding of Alice Coltrane and her music, search out the new biography, "Monument Eternal: The Music of Alice Coltrane" by Franya J. Berkman. A very insightful examination of Alice's spiritual journey and her music.

  • wow, i've learnt something new today... superb music. I've always been into the jazz funk and fusion sounds but haven't really delved into this side of jazz. can say that I'm hooked!

  • what a talent!

  • she should be proud of her husband, nephew and son

  • Huge admirer of Alice Coltrane and John Coltrane.

This really is a sublime and inspiring piece. Beautiful

  • When art transcends the medium, the spirit journeys home. Such beauty, and grace as well as sheer joy emit from these sounds.......listen and be healed! Thank you,Alice and musicians ,Mario Aranda

  • love to free jazz

  • Very stunning sound!

  • sublime.........

  • Check her Nephew out he gos by the name of flying lotus, he is just a modern day expression of this

  • @MrGemini612 i take it that is where aunties harp comes from? both of them make amaaaaazing music

  • @MrGemini612 He used a sample of this in one of his new albums

  • @MrGemini612 The Coltranes are probably one of the greatest musical families still around. I am still a layman when it comes to my knowledge in the Coltrane family, but I kind of have the picture that every new generation of Coltrane represents a diferent state of being. John was calm, wise and knew where he stood, whilst Alice had a little more experimental and spiritual feel to her, whilst Lotus jsut represents the chaotic youth in a sense.

    I don't know, I haven't slept tonight..

  • Bliss! Amazing...words are insufficient to describe how beautiful this is ....peace and love x x x

  • This composition makes me imagine the tranquility and security in the amniotic fluid of life we all came from, floating and levitation with Alice's harp.....

  • and Ron Carter is inspired, check the call and response around 3:50

  • Wow that take me way back, I listened to this many many times. Haven't heard this for about 30 years but it still sounds really alive. Thanks for posting.

  • What an awesome number! Joe Henderson is way underrated, no?

  • Very good and no doubt an influence on that final track from "KID A" Radiohead...

  • @whielden my thought's exactly...

  • this song is...

it interpets the hidden, the unrevealed.

it is sunrise, sundowns at dusk and it is moonlight at night. the awakener of the instincts...simply beautiful.

God Bless Mrs. Alice Coltrane, RIP....

    love,

    Tish.

  • awesome.

  • this is thee truest form ove musick

  • Excellent! It is clear to see that Alice was a musician in her own right. Akin to a Frieda Kulo. I'm in love with the interplay 9of harp and bass. You put togeher a very nice collage of images as well. RIP our dear sister.

  • :-)

  • Oh yeah

  • Beautiful! But how could it be anything else-with this group of musicians?!
