i used the bore cutting today for the first time the style does vary abit......i cut some redoaks the same as in vid. and some other species it does take a little longer and you burn a little more gas but it seems the best way to cut larger trees
Thanks for writing! I need to get out with this logger and take some more video this year. He recently added a 385XP Husky to his stable, and I am anxious to see how he likes it compared to his Stihl 660. He files freehand, and he says it takes him two or three filings to make a new chain cut the way he likes it. You can see as he is cutting with the top of the bar that he has it biting pretty well. Be careful out there. I will be checking out your videos!
i`ve liked husqvarna`s for years i also file free handed the guy`s at work won`t touch my saw i file the drags on a new chain...about a half a file stroke works good for me, i think oregon made the chains cut less when new a few years ago no proof though
This method allows the tree to stand safely on the hinge and back strap until you release it, and your getaway from the stump is much better than older methods.
Very nice.....

The bore cut also lets you use wedges to jack a tree in the proper direction..

I've never seen anyone cut a tree that way. Very interesting.

Yes, it is a 660. I looked it up, and that is a 91.6 cc engine. Lots of power!

Ok. Thanks a lot for taking the time to find out and to respond. Happy cutting!
