Did not know there is an English version of song or that Dassin is American. Very nice but the French version is better.

It`s true that French is the most romantic and poetic language in the world , it`s true this song sounds better in French ... and the lines " on s`aimera encore ... lorsque l`amour sera mort " are the best in the song ... but even the english adaptation is touching " will you still be loving me when the summer is gone "

It was originally sung by the composer's group at the time, called Gli Albatros. We're talking about Toto Cutugno, of course ;)

The title, as well as the lyrics, is completely different from the more known version: "Africa" ;)

I have been a Joe Dassin fan since early seventies and never knew that he was American until now. I am so grateful for you posting this. Please, if any other versions for this amazing talent exit in english , post it for all of us. Joe Dassin is king.

We grew up listening him and many other European singers.

Joe Dassin was American by birth, I think he was Russian by parents.

His French sounds the most cool...

Not Russian, but Jewish from Ukrainian city Odessa. When Joe's father came to America they asked him his name, but he didn't know english language and he thought they asking him where he from and he said Odessa. But they heard something like Dassin and they wrote him like his last name is Dassin. His father didn't complained and that's how this became Joe's family new last name.
