I thought this was going to be the "iPhone killer"/ Three years later, this phone has been completely forgotten and the iPhone beats this phone in every way.
This phone was okay at first, but i was tired of the constant freezing and unresponsive screen quickly. I also had to go through 2 years with it, now i'm happy with my HTC Evo Shift :D

okay 2 questions on the instinct for my web the zoom doesn't say 1x it just zooms in on its own how do i get it back to the 1x and 2 when i get a pic message i try and save it to my phone but it doesn't let me hpw do i save it
500 characters makes it difficult to say so I will reply to my own message with additional details. Here are some of the problems:
1) Its core software and apps can be upgraded to fix bugs, but fixes rarely (if ever) come. Even simple bugs have been allowed to remain within this phone for nearly 2 years now. This shows that Samsung and Sprint really just doesn't give a damn.
EMAIL - This app will decide to stop downloading email for no reason whatsoever. You may not even notice it's broken until you try to send an email and it fails.
MESSAGING - This one is actually pretty good.
VOICEMAIL - This visual voicemail feature is the phone's best feature.
NAVIGATION - Basically the only piece ever updated. It is bad. It's slow in keeping up with your position and will often get confused on a trip and send you in an infinte seies of U-turns.
CALCULATOR - This works, but limits you to 2 decimal places in calculations for no reason whatsoever.
NOTES: The phone allows you to save general notes for yourself. This is a handy feature, but it limits you to 9 notes of 500 characters in length. My phone has over 1GB of storage. The UI that presents the notes is the same used for contacts so even that can handle more than 9 entries. This limitation is complete horsesqueeze.
CALENDAR - This was designed by a completely inept programmer. It's limited to a total of 60 events. 60! Remember those 1000MB of storage? Yes, the phone limits me to 60 events.
If you click on a date to enter an event pay attention because the UI will often quietly set the date to the day AFTER you selected.
BROWSER - The web browser is possibly the worst I have ever used. Usually when clicking a link one of the two will happen: 1) Nothing or 2) the screen will do a little zoom-in / zoom-out dance.
Clearing the browser history will not erase the final site you visited.
Going to a "base page" from which you can click various links, hit "back" then go to another of those various links (like a news site) will often confuse it and give you "Link Expired" errors.
NEWS / POCKET EXPRESS - This is a fun little feature that displays categories of news. Unfortunately, the touch-sensitive scroll is bad and it's hard to scroll just a little. Clicking on article titles will often trigger a bug that causes the web browser to pop up for no reason. The feed that supplies the news articles is a little fishy. I like the Science category but it's usually loaded with articles of environmentalist propaganda instead.
TEXT - The screen that allows you to type needs work. If you misspell a word and the Instinct provides the correct text in a suggestion list then you're fine. If it's not in that list then all hell breaks loose.
Press the "back" button down and your cursor goes backwards 1 spot. Hold it down for a period of time that's a complete mystery and all of your text before the cursor is deleted. If you need to delete several characters be very careful otherwise it will eat all of them.
i've had the phone for over a year and it was pretty good. the battery life is okay. you can get through the day with it. charge every night and anytime that you can...im getting an upgrade though for the htc hero !

Also when Im on the internet it freezes, turns off & back on by itself. But other than that its ok... I like the fact that a little star is on top of the screen when you have missed alerts or even emails. Im thinking about getting the exclaim but Im not so sure yet....
Never get this phone. I got a new phone this phone sucks. They discontinued this phone, and had to make a new one called instinct 2.0 i beleive. It always freezes when on internet. I found out this phone was not desined to the use of internet. I was not happy with that phone. Total waiste of money.
i just got the instinct s30 its the best. the only thing is it comes with less accessories than the the first instinct and they should have included a screen cleaning cloth since its a touch screen.
Comparing the two services and web use, sprint has the upper hand. For my wife and I it would cost roughly 180 bucks a month, where with sprint with two of these phones, it would only cost us 130 buck, not to mention that AT&T weekend and night plan starts at 9 where sprints is at 7. ALl in all, sprint is the better deal. Web use is FASTER with sprint, go to the DSL speed website and compare. Clearly faster. Instinct is the way to go economically speaking.
@greekzebra14 no the iphone has cooler apps, multi-touch, GOOD video recording that doesn't sound choppy, a higher megapixel camera, a smoother OS, and a good music player where the music doesn't sound like crap when you turn it up full volume
this is a good phone. lol i laughed when he was trying to press the speaker button. you have to slide it to the left to turn it on/off. i rarely experience any lag with the phone. the only complaint i have is while on the internet browser, it is somewhat difficult to press smaller links or links that are close to eachother. whoever gets this phone will be happy

well I got mine not even a month ago and its not malfunctioning, it is just annoyingly slow, and just yesterday 120+ pictures I had on sd card in my phone mysteriously disappeared??? ok, I'm thinking s... happens with sd's but than I look in phones memory and guess what? pictures from there are gone too??? have you tried to take a pic with this phone? anything but perfect light and camera is useles, txt? i'm not fast typer but I have to wait for the phone to catch up with me, it's so slow...

This phone sucks so much.
I have had to endure it since its release and even a basic flip phone kicks its ass. It is buggy as shit, and so slow. When texting, the keyboard will lag behind by 2-3 seconds and jumble up letters.
It seems that every single application was designed by shit chucking apes. They put the rotate keyboard button right next to the backspace button and i get about 5 accidental presses each day due to the shitty touchscreen. Dont even get me started on the internet.
I'm so dumb I got this for my bro for his bday and I want it now!!!!! grrr! I have the overrated razr for over 3 yrs now ! I actually like it though I think the original touch phone (iphone) proly is better

I just have a question for people who have this phone. Because i have the LG rumor by sprint. And like lets say i text someone, but the text fails. You have to go in your outbox and resend it and all that. For the instinct, if a text fails to send, is there like a retry button?
Hell yes simply because it is ran of a microsoft platform which is no stranger to crashing and problems. The guy at the sprint store told me those phones break all the time. I'm getting a instinct tommorrow.

It costs alot if you use internet without a plan.
But you can't turn it off.
Try talking to your cellphone service provider.

okay, im getting that phone and there's a couple things bothering me. mainly: how do u put it on vibrate?
second: if u record sumthing (if u can), can u set it as a ringtone?

its easy to put it on vibrate, no worries there. and yes you can record things on this phone, but no you cannot use them as a ringtone, sorry.

This phone sucks so much.
I have had to endure it since its release and even a basic flip phone kicks its ass. It is buggy as shit, and so slow. When texting, the keyboard will lag behind by 2-3 seconds and jumble up letters.
It seems that every single application was designed by shit chucking apes. They put the rotate keyboard button right next to the backspace button and i get about 5 accidental presses each day due to the shitty touchscreen. Dont even get me started on the internet.

150 per month (3 lines add 19.95) for familly and either 59.99 a month or 69.99 a month for an indiviaul plan and that includes tv ,datas(web), and unlimted texting and mesaging.

no it sucks because i want this phone too and have had mine for 2 months and their like no way. you have to pay 449 from sprint and u can get one on ebay for 150-299 thats what im gonna do.

I just have a question for people who have this phone. Because i have the LG rumor by sprint. And like lets say i text someone, but the text fails. You have to go in your outbox and resend it and all that. For the instinct, if a text fails to send, is there like a retry button?

Hell yes simply because it is ran of a microsoft platform which is no stranger to crashing and problems. The guy at the sprint store told me those phones break all the time. I'm getting a instinct tommorrow.

Dude you are so right iu had nightmares for a while after i said that. Actually the sprint people at the sprint repair shop said don't get the instinct and recomended that. Also the treo 755p tey said they don't see many of those.
