iv been a courtesy clerk at Kroger for 9 months now and its the worst job i ever took. taking the interview was probably the biggest mistake i ever made since the job is just flat out BORING! after like an hour or so of bagging, it gets very old so i just go outside to get a break and stay there for an hour or 2 just to pass the time, usually the managers dont notice me because theyre too busy inside anyway.

3.) Yeah its my highlight of the day when some person who walked from across the parking lot fine, and then gets in the store and uses the damn mart cart. Then you have to take it out with them and then ride it back inside, and then all the customers think its soooo amusing that your driving it. Oh and think its so funny to say: "Oh slow down speed racer!"

i hate when people all think the same thing because of sports like getting $300 worth of food when the store only has one bagger up front, THAT one bagger can't take care of 15 people at once , and that includes when each customer has $300 worth of food because that takes a long time to bag and with no other baggers to help out your wasting the baggers time that could be used to bag other orders !

1. You are correct. However it doesn't take half a mind to check and see if some carton is busted and of the sort (it does happen, thousands of groceries go through the back-end at any point). Also, It is NOT that hard to clean up, but most people are too embarrassed to tell someone about it, leaving the milk all over the dairy section for someone to slip on and subsequently sue our store, which leaves (dumbly, mind you) my ass at fault.
I've been a CC for 1&1/2 years and about to apply as another one at a diff store, and i know how much a pain in the ass being a CC is! One thing that's really hard to understand is how most every manager i know doesn't give a damn who you are and all they expect is for you to work much harder than anyone else just to get payed less than everyone else. You'd think because ur making less and working harder than anyone else they'd at least sympathize.
Lol I use to work at albertsons. I remember one time this old lady bought this plant. I asked her if she wanted it in a bag. She said yes. So I put it in one. Then she got all mad saying she didn't want it in one then took it out all rough and broke one of its leafs. LOL My manager laughed about it after the lady left. :)

Dunno what you are talking about... Mart Carts are straight. Wet cleanups any time are fucking gay. Small talk isn't too bad because the cashier soaks up most of it. In general, fuck being a Courtesy Clerk. I bust my ass every time I walk into Kroger, and what do I get in return? 6.55 an hour.... Thanks Kroger! Got a job at Publix as being a CC last week. I'm now working at Publix and making 7.45 an hour, and we're treated much better.

True, the last impression of the store is most often the last person, but people these days are so focused on the negative, so that is higher ranked in the "what did I notice about this store" feeling. Great, I am glad you assumed I covered everything in one ramblings video. I really hope you don't think that this is everything I have to ramble on about... I could sit there and do the "TV Courtesy Clerk" thing and counter all of those situations easily. Nobody is a perfect courtesy clerk, stop trying (like your previous reply) to make it seem that way.

dude you're just bitching. 1. people don't drop and spill things on purpose. it is always and accident and its not that hard to clean up it takes like 5 minutes tops. 2.don't make light conversations with people? wow how rude and angry are you? you're supposed to be courteous.make people smile talk to them. I am a courtesy clerk and I for one don't hate being polite and friendly. 3. dude the store is huge and there are a lot of aisles let the old people use the help the store offers.

1. You are correct. However it doesn't take half a mind to check and see if some carton is busted and of the sort (it does happen, thousands of groceries go through the back-end at any point). Also, It is NOT that hard to clean up, but most people are too embarrassed to tell someone about it, leaving the milk all over the dairy section for someone to slip on and subsequently sue our store, which leaves (dumbly, mind you) my ass at fault.

I've been a CC for 1&1/2 years and about to apply as another one at a diff store, and i know how much a pain in the ass being a CC is! One thing that's really hard to understand is how most every manager i know doesn't give a damn who you are and all they expect is for you to work much harder than anyone else just to get payed less than everyone else. You'd think because ur making less and working harder than anyone else they'd at least sympathize.

Courtesy clerks get no credit whatsoever.
There's a blog about grocery clerks, it's hilarious. The main guy is a Safeway supervisor I think.

Lol I use to work at albertsons. I remember one time this old lady bought this plant. I asked her if she wanted it in a bag. She said yes. So I put it in one. Then she got all mad saying she didn't want it in one then took it out all rough and broke one of its leafs. LOL My manager laughed about it after the lady left. :)

I'm a CC at safeway and it SUCKS. You are soo right about that stuff. We do the most laborous work and we get the least paid. WTF. And at least you got mart carts! We gotta push the carts with our own hands!

I've been one since April at a small town grocery store. I agree with you 100%. I also hate when Im asking if they would like paper or plastic, and there are the few customers who interupt you bitterly saying paper. I mean come on! Im a teenager and I know that interuppting people is rude.

I've been a courtesy clerk for a couple of months now and I don't agree with any of this :X.
But then again, we don't have these "mart carts" at our stores.
but I don't care if I have to do a walk out, talking with people over bagging any day!
And I haven't done any spills yet :X. So either our store is good or I'm lucky enough never to get them.
But I do work at Albertson's, and we close at midnight :X. Try having that shift for a few months!

I'm a courtesy clerk, and the only thing I hate is when customers are assholes. We do a lot, and please don't complain about bagging or be so picky.

LOL I'm with man I was a Courtesy Clerk for a year before I became Cashier mart-carts are annoying they take up your time they get in the most random places they loss battery life because people forget to plug them in and they stop work for no reason what so ever.

Dunno what you are talking about... Mart Carts are straight. Wet cleanups any time are fucking gay. Small talk isn't too bad because the cashier soaks up most of it. In general, fuck being a Courtesy Clerk. I bust my ass every time I walk into Kroger, and what do I get in return? 6.55 an hour.... Thanks Kroger! Got a job at Publix as being a CC last week. I'm now working at Publix and making 7.45 an hour, and we're treated much better.

OMG DUDE!!!you nailed it about us courtesy clerks I works for a 24 hour safeway in redwood city and I mostly close but dude you nailed it on the spot about how we are. For 9 bucks an hour the amount of crap that we do and have to put up with is hard

I tried to formulate a response earlier to go into a few of the other things that piss us clerks off, but hit the 500 character wall not even halfway through... so I had to finish it at my own place. (thatsjustdandy)
I am always polite to the customers, but damn, are they annoying sometimes...

I agree!!! I work at Albertsons too...The thing that pisses me off the most...When costumers leave carts out in the middle of freaking no where...when there is a cart return spot! or even better...they can just return them to the building!

Like I said, these are only my opinions. I would never fail to smile at a customer. True, the last impression of the store is most often the last person, but people these days are so focused on the negative, so that is higher ranked in the "what did I notice about this store" feeling. I hope you would never do anything I describe, this is only to let the non-courtesies know our side.

Yes, although I believe that customer service is important, my job with this old video is to explain how stupid people are. I hope nobody would ever actually DO some of the things I am talking about, but they are there to basically make them evident.
