  • I remember likin this before I could relate to complete sentences and song lyrics, and would make up words to fit the rhythm to still get the buzz from it!

  • im 25 and my mums 50 and we're both dancing round the living room like idiots to this lol

  • Fabulous recording.. Thanks so much for posting..

  • Happy, carefree days, wagging school and listening to the charts at dinnertime on tuesdays. Can't seem to get this on Itunes though.

  • I recorded with Sue & Sunny & Goodison at CBS backing tracks for "Hickory"..Had an affair with Sue..So love her still....Jeffxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • @jeffjslater So what is she doing these days?

  • @RowleyBirkinn I lost touch 20yrs ago, Hope ya well Sue & Sunny..JJxxxxxxxx

  • @jeffjslater .HI,Jeff.I always thought this track was recorded by Sue and Sunny. Was it Sue Schiffrin, who is now married to David Cassidy?Did she also record a version of 25 Miles, the Edwin Starr hit?Or am I completely on the wrong track?FB me,if you would, please

  • BOY I SURE WISH THAT SOMEONE WOULD UPLOAD THE VIDEO OF HER SINGING THIS ON TOP OF THE POPS, LOVE TO SEE THAT AGAIN. SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND HAS A STUNNING VOICE, WHAT A WASTE TO BE JUST A SESSION SINGER. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN HUGE. XX

  • @michellesvideosuk I agree. Has no1 got a copy of the TOTP programme?

  • Too much like Dusty

  • @dylandollyspud I never thought of that before, she does sound a bit like Dusty

  • Wow!! Haven't heard this in years, thanks for posting it!! ;)

  • I Like this but the Carol Douglas version had a better more rich and lush production, the music on this one sounds a bit "tinny" for a Disco song.

Besides I think comparisons are stupid, just enjoy them both or don't put down one to defend the other. Each singer brings something unique to their version.

  • @DA90027 I agree... I wish we had Sunny's vocals over Carol Douglas' backing track.

  • Excellent song from an underrated singer.

  • Oh my god....... how wonderful was that? Memories indeed!

  • Johnnie Walker played this again yesterday on his "Sounds of the 70's" show...that's twice in 4 months...recognition perhaps of what a great, great song & version this is.

  • what a gem! loved this when i was a kid...thankyou

  • Definitely better that the Carol Douglas version.

  • she was the backing singer on Rainbow valley by the love affair, great voice.

  • Very nice song!Great post!Bella : ))

  • Superb memories of this one ..to think music like this was in the charts ...great times :)) ktf

  • @TooDarnSoulful

The song I have not heard for a long time .....very nice! : ))

  • Lovley song , brings back some nice memories , thanks for posting

  • 'Hello'

  • Fantastic sound from a brilliant era.I love this song better now than when it first came out,it just makes you want to dance.

  • the B side was 'Only when your feeling lonely ' , I wish someone would put that on here

  • This is by far the best version. Thank you for posting it here. Takes me back many many years x

  • Don't shoot me... but I prefer Carol's. This one's too fast.

  • Sent this in to Johnnie Walker as a suggestion for his playlist on "Sounds of the 70's". Well today he played it on national radio. I hope the listening millions were awakened to what a GREAT song this is & what an awesome singer Sunny is. Travesty that neither she nor the song received the acclaim they deserved.

  • please can somebody upload sunny's version of MAYBE THE MORNING....i'd be so grateful....thanks Des

  • I always laughed at the telephone intro "Hi honey, I went to the doctors today". I would've put the phone down at that point!!!!!!! Good song though. She also sang the lead female vocal on the Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand".

  • I remember hearing this slowed down from a 45 to a 33 and it was hilarious - camper than the original!

  • what a babe

  • What happened where did she go.......... a classic xxxxxxxxxx

  • The "dogs"... Apart from a sublime voice. I think she was a cracking looking woman....P.S....Check out , Brotherhood of man..."United we stand". She,s part lead vocalist. And a beautiful song...

  • cheers 4 this brill dance tune -- not heard in a long time ktf

  • Why is this (the best) version not available on I - tunes?

    need to buy this song.

  • @stedav100 Jane MacDonald's version is pretty good.

  • i remember this song when i was quite young, i loved it

  • Anyone know of any CD compilation this (the best) version is on please?

  • best version!

  • Sunny wins hands down. Carol's cover version was empty compared to this original

  • I agree Beanoboy!

  • @beanoboy2710 I think Jane McDonald's cover is a very close second :D

  • @beanoboy2710 Maybe, just maybe, after the effects from ingesting marijuana laced cookies you'll come back down to your senses.

  • wow i never heard this version, i realize this is the original, but carols disco version is sooo much better....

  • Brilliant - took me right back to my after school discos (and that first boyfriend) wonderful !!!

  • takes me back love it thanks for posting

  • Brilliant, thanx 4 a great sound

  • THIS TAKES ME BACK GT SONG X

  • Sunny gets my vote, it's not often the original version is not the best! I bought this when a hormonal young man and wanted to play doctors and nurses with her.

  • i prefear carol

  • I do as well because Carol is far more groovy in a soul-funky style. Sunny is too pop, and I don't like her version. But TheRoloCasanova seems to be right because Sunny charted entered the UK charts in March 1974 while Carol only entered the US ones only in December of that year...

  • This is the original and the best version of a great song (though Carol Douglas did a good attempt too - and the B side of that one was a cracker Baby Don't Let This Good Love Die). As folks have mentioned Sunny (the sexy Sunny) had a number of releases including a solo album featuring this song which I still have, and albums with her sister Sue (Sue and Sonny) and, of course, Brotherhood of Man (the original group). Doesn't get much better than this.

  • @TheRunner75 He's referring to the ORIGINAL group of Brotherhood of man... from 1970-73, the later version of the group (with all new members) WAS crap, I agree. But you should hear the recordings of the original group (Of which Sunny was a member) like "United We Stand", "Say A Prayer", and "Reach Out Your Hand", good stuff.

  • thnx for that valuable info.i thot otherwise.i like both recordings.thnx again.

  • This is the original. Carol Douglas's and all the others are covers.

  • I thought Sunny did the original of doctors orders? Tiz certainly the better version.

  • Only 4990 views...1000's missing out on one of the GREATEST pop songs ever. Sublime from start to finish. SO many memories...Girls Aloud/Sugababes ideal for a cover version? Never beat this though and I'm a Weller nut!!!

  • Nobody could sing the song as good as this!

  • I know !! The best version ever, no one else could do it justice. A decent cover though may resurrect the credit Sunny deserves.

  • @chicotheblue Please don't encourage Chavs Aloud to ruin this!

  • o my god.... iv been hunting high and ow for this song since i heard it on sex and the city once.... FINALLY I FOUND YOU YEY!!!!

  • I remember seeing a TOTP performance of this on TOTP2 way back in 2003 and that the edition of 18th April 1974 had existed.

  • Really? You think the BBC has a copy?

  • But unfortenately it was only a spool insert tape from 18th April 1974 which had Mott the Hoople and Limmie and The Family Cookin' and i wish the BBC would have kept the recording with Greg Edwards being in the frame. as of 2009, there are no Sunny TOTP performances at all.

  • reminds me of my youth..school disco's aww loved it then and i still do xx

  • The VERY best version.

  • @Bessie1906 sorry but I must disagree with you. Being a person who grew up during the USA disco era I prefer the disco version song by carol Douglas . Either way both Sonny's and Carol's version put Jane MC Donald's . version to shame

  • oh heck i feel old remember taking this to school as we had to all bring in a record to play good old days !!!!

  • Hi all, does anyone know where i can download this track?

    CJ

  • thankyou..someone finally put this song on so i could hear it after many years..my fave song when 11!!

  • how come Carol Douglas released the same song so soon after this version??...looks lie douglas version charted in 1975??

Its not a bad version either...

  • Feminine, romantic yet light spirited, dancing, slower but powerfull, as always, with Sheila. Glorious and over-produced too, the same...

Interpretation is AAAA from an accomplished artist.

    Non ?

  • That's about Sheila's one (sorry one message slippped away), to be found for instance on my 'Favorites' page here, under the name "Sheila" (a mistake fom the gut who posted it), lasting 2:26.

It is a good quality capture of a Tv lip-sing that really does her justice....

    Up to one's appreciation...

  • ....did she find any success...any more hits....?

  • This was her only UK hit s a solo artist! However she did some backing vocals and was previously in the Brotherhood of Man.

  • Yes, but it wasn't her only UK release. "She did some backing vocals" is an understatement. She featured on dozens of the big hits of the 70s so that her voice became almost as familar as those of the lead artists.

  • Yet another Greenaway-Cook classic beautifully performed by one of the great voices of the 60s-70s. Just a pity that so few of Sunny's successes were as a solo artist. She was so much more than a backing singer.

  • Ditto...thanks for posting. Always a great favourite, invokes many happy memories & is one helluva a good Pop Song. This version is by far the best, timeless & yes it COULD be nicked by today's big hitters (bar Lily Allen!)_

  • what a fantastic record we had this for our school leaving party in 1974 mmmmmm the memories flood back to happy days

  • Been looking for this for years thanks for posting makes me feel young again.

  • Great number!

April/May 74..IIRC reminds me of St Francis School, jumpers for goalposts etc..

if any music moguls had half a brain, this could be a No1 for Girls Aloud or someone.

  • i heard this a few weeks ago on dales pick of the pops - the quickest 2 hours each week

  • I Have not heard this for years,Great Track, Thanks for posting.

  • no not at all. i`ve still got it somewhere on vinyl. best version by far.

  • looks like its only me and you who remember this little foot tapper,
