Are you kidding me? You actually believe that most people think that the cat was actually giving the cat cpr? And, no, it is not mating, similar, but not the same. When you kiss a child, are you trying to mate with him or her? No, because it is similar behavior, but not exact. Both are signs of affection, but two totally different meanings. This cat knew exactly what happened, and the condition the female was in, and obviously was trying to make it not be true, in its own way.

he may have been deeply fond of her, but that does not change the intent -

she may have died while in heat. Had she died belly-down vs on her side, this video would show a tomcat mounting a corpse - not as attractive.

as a veterinarian and cat behaviorist I can tell you dont know as much about cats as you so brilliantly attempt ,... when a cat grabs another cat by the nape of the kneck it is eqivillant to you holding a person in your arms , the cat in the videois trying to rouse his mate , and judging by the size and slender build of the dead one it appears female so yes they were probably mates but cats are far more intelligent than most think,..

@procletnic  You do understand that the whole "picking a kitten up at the back of the neck" thing can become quite dangerous for the cat after it becomes a certain age. The mother cat will stop carrying the kitten by the back of the neck after it reaches a certain age because, after it matures a little, picking it up by the back of the neck is very painful and can strangle/suffocate or beak the poor cat's neck. (I was informed about this by my cousin who is a vet...)

of course cats don't know CPR(may've been CPR-*like* movements) but i agree with procletnic and YC that he was trying to wake her up or something,not to mate with her -.- most animals,mammals at least,are well capable of telling a dead or dying animal from a living one,and may feel grief at the death of one they know.perhaps the neck-biting might have been some sort of displacement activity?(that's basically when an animal doesn't know how to act and does something random out of context)

ummmmmmm the cat lived. if you search turkish hero cat saves buddy. you will see that indeed the cat lives it shows the cat after they take it away and interview with the vet. do your research buddy, the vet even said it could quite possibly be why it lived

Its not giving cpr (duh!), but it's not fucking the other cat either. It tries to take the cat away much like the mother cat carries her kittens around (by biting their neck). Animals do have emotions but we can't understand them because they express them in another way. Just giving my 2 cents.

actually, I agree with you. Keeping in mind that mating is not pleasurable for felines at all, He IS trying to invoke a response, but instinctively only and nothing so creative as cardiac massage. Cats and dogs, however smart we believe them to be, are not quite capable of that kind of understanding. I find the video touching for other reasons.

Although this is interesting and rarely seen footage,I wouldn't call this 'reviving'.

Just like humans ,animals too can have strange necrophiliac tendencies,this behaviour has been spotted by birds too,where a bird tried to have some sort of intercourse with a bird that had died by flying against a glass window. I've seen it done by pigeons.

You kept refering to the injuried cat as dead is all I was reuting. As far as trying to have sex with her, I don't believe he would try for two hours and protect her. We only seen 5 minutes of the more then 2 hour ordeal. And no I don't believe the cat was doing CPR. Thanks for the civil reply.

Maybe you should get all the facts before expressing your opinon. The female cat wasn't dead yet. When people tried to help the white cat wouldn't let anyone near the injured cat. And when a Vet finally took the cat he tried to save it but was to late.

@toylion1000 It is entirely normal for a male cat to defend a female at it is trying to mate with. The fact that the cat does try to keep people away is actually a sign that it is trying to mate.
