Finally an Ackley in sports. Most of our family is in Science or Engineering, My father, Ernest Ackley was excellent at Golf , Baseball and Track, but sports didn't pay anything back in the 40's -50's. Don't know if our part of the family is related, but it may be, as the Ackley's have been around in this country for a very long time, at least since the 1700's, possibly earlier.
I have seen Dustin Ackley play since he was a freshmen when the tar hells came to omaha where i live to play in the CWS for 4 years in a row. Hes a beast in the batters boxs. to bad that team cant seem to win a title 06 and 07 lose to Oreg State both times and then 08 and 09 get drop before that finals. Hate that team but man he is great. GO LSU TIGERS!!!!!!

I live about 10 or 15 minutes from Dusty's family, and where he used to live. This is exciting. No contest--he's the best hitter I've ever seen (besides major league hitters). I was actually even a teammate of his on a summer league team...and when he popped out, I said "Not used to getting out, are ya?" His reply: "Ahh, every once in a while."
Well, in high school he was real quiet, just like he always is. He was quiet and humble. He's never been the cocky loudmouth type. But tell you the truth, everyone thought it was his older brother Jordan who'd go pro, not Dustin. But I guess he blossomed and proved everyone wrong. Haha.

yeah he played on Team usa for Junior Olympics and when he was a Sophmore at LBSU and then at the 2009 Future game
