Its a Sony DCR-SR46 HDD. If your thinking of buying ? Get a camera with more mega pixels on the still side. This camera has only 2.3 which means it takes lousy still photos.
Thanks for the reply - I don't care much for still photos, I wouldn't use the camcorder for that purpose. Im browsing the Sony models at the moment pretty much only for the Night Shot Plus. I own a very good canon camera but need an additional one with night vision for a project. It shouldn't be too expensive either cause several unexperienced people are supposed to use it (risk of dropping..). non-HD and DV-based is fine. I'm interested in the Sony DCR-HC51E (called HC52 in the USA)

No. The room was totaly black. No additional light. The camera puts off the light which is really hard to see with the naked eye.
