About the whole "I want you in my arms everyday" lyric at the end, I kind of have to disagree. I think it's still in the guy's voice, and he's admitting that he's being stupid and he's sorry. He just wants to stop fighting and be in love again.
Wilco and Steely Dan are my two favorite bands. I have noticed in the past the newer Wilco stuff is very steely Danish.. I even thought to myself once "How cool would it be to hear Wilco cover my old school". Hah, I guess I'm not the only one who noticed.
What's funny about this song you get to see the fight and anger, then the last verse, he says, ..."I'm sorry..let's get back where we began..I want you in my arms everyday"
Kinda manic, but under the backdrop of a brilliantly crafted pop tune. The first few times I heard it, the music disguised the message. That love for ya I guess?
Love this interpretation. It's kind of like real love, where you can get so frustrated by somebody one minute and then be sorry and still in love the next.
Heard they were gonna release a new song for the Heroes soundtrack and i just looked for it on the internet.I Downloaded it from a blog called critical acclaim.
This is the best song i havever heard - you KNOW WHO. I love you, "but I got nothing to say to you" OH, and BTW "You're not the only one I've ever had'.
amazing song, great lyrics just too good, says it all about it

Great song, but this - like "The Thanks I Get" - probably wouldn't have fitted into the overall tracking and context of Sky Blue Sky.

god this is their worst song ever

@nalbmalfoy Seriously? Maybe you haven't listened to any of Wilco (The Album)? Go there for Wilco's "worst" stuff (very relative term).

Sounds like something from the first couple of Steely Dan records.........and that's a good thing!

Is it me, or were Wilco influenced by Steeley Dan? I am thinking this song compared with "My Old School".

It still blows my mind how an unbelievable band like Wilco isn't embraced by popular radio! I guess it's just cool people like us who get that joy!
They don't deserve it!

that's exactly right. Wilco is like a secret you share with only a few.

Did anyone else think of early steely dan when they heard this, perhaps something from countdown to ectasy?
mandor05 3 years ago 4
yes, that's it. I was thinking that this was something straight out of the 70's, but could not pinpoint it until now.
