the problem is the flywheel where the piston is connected to, there is supposed to be a aspring around that part. solution:take motor apart (starting with detaching flywheel) and see if there is a spring broke. i had same problem, my car wanted to drive away when i started it, and when i pressed brake, or stopped it from driving away, the motor shut off. other solution: try giving it some more fuel. or start it uppon a brick, so the wheels are free to spin during startup
not if this will still be any use to you still but i just got mine on Sunday and it did the same you need to read the instructions that came with it very carefully and set the screws correctly this can take some time to get it right for a good ride so don't rush it for any1 else that reads this then if you have the same problem then read the instructions or go on an rc website or rc nitro chat also make sure that everything is working properly and is connected.
if its not the carb setup, check your clutch spring mine did that when the spring broke, and maybe check the glow plug i know it sounds stupid but 95% of the time its the plug, hope this helps dude.
hey first off put the rc on a block or wood with the wheels moving freely than start it if the tire spin that means your clutches or spring is no good.thats y when u start it wants to take off cause your clutch inside the bell housing is messed up. well hope this helps u man laters!!
@evo5mad hey could u have put the clutch backwards try puting them the other way and c if that helps it has to be the clutches cause it looks like it takes off hmm....
if the problem was the glow plug, the engine wouldnt start at all but in your case it is starting. looks like there is too much smoke comming out for start off. you need to tune your low speed needle clockwise slowly
clutch is bad, i can see it wanting to pull at low speed, spring on the 2 clutch shoes is broken inside the bell housing at the end of the engine shaft behind the main drive gear
Number 1, the car starts and you can plainly see smoke which = a rich engine. Another thing is it also looks cold where ever you are. Don't turn the car on or the radio, manually turn the throttle until it's 1/4th the way open, basically in idle position. Let it warm up for about 2-5mins and you should be fine, I had that same problem with that exact same car when I 1st got it, if that don't work, give me a shout.
ok here is what to do u will need to check ur high speed needle it should be a quarter turn then on your remote put your throttle trim fully up. once the car starts put the throttle trim at 0 and rev your engine. keep reving it until u have used about half a tank. now cut the engine and start here up it should work. if not message me u may have serious problems
xd. i know you posted this for 3 years a but but i think your clucth was damaged because i had the exactly the same problem :) 3years late answer.... better late than never
Once it's started slightly pull the trigger on the transmiter. This will higher the revs and let the fuel ignite. Then take glow starter out and of you go. Make sure it is fully tune though :)
just take the air filter off look in to the carb and turn the idle screw untill there is about 1 to 2 mm gap then it should sart without having to put any throttel on
PLEASE HELP my rc car wont start at all.It sounds like it is catching the fuel and about to start but it will not start at all. Starts for about a milisecond but does not idle what so ever. Any ideas??
For anyone having this problem try searching you tube for "How to tune a nitro Rc car". I prefer the videos by squirrelod. This is just a matter of tuning your engine by adjusting the small screws that can be found all around your cars nitro engine. However do not adjust them if you do not know what they do. If you are too retarded to take the time to learn how to tune and want someone else to do all the work for you well this sport is not for you so piss off.
@themcdvideo it seems some people want to drive nitro cars and dont want to tune them up why they buy them? consumer impulse? maybe they should go electrics
@CaptCamping Definitely right it is just an impulse. It isn't even hard to tune them though, Just like anything, you learn how to do it real quick if you are not afraid of trial and error. .
<_< you dont have a nitro car do you...it needs the plug to start so its not the glow plug and if he didnt prime the engine no fuel would get to the carb. so it wouldnt start...dumbass it needs tuned
@00011theman no i have three rc cars (jato, t-maxx, revo) i said maybe get a new glow plug because a engine will start and cut out if it has a bad glow plug ive done it before. and also he may have not primed the engine enough to the point where it just cuts out after starting. check yourself.
make sure youve primed the engine, put your finger over exhaust then pull the pull start until fuel just reaches the engine. also make sure your throtlle settings are correct, your carb may not be open enough(1-1.5mm). if thats all fine you should turn the high speed needle clockwise to get more fuel in.
hopes this helps.
ps. just as it sounds as though it will cut off, give it a few revs.
im assuming your glow igniter is fully charged if so check your idle needle to make sure it is gettin air mixture ,make sure your glow plug is working and check hsn check all fuel lines are connected with no leak
@crazzyrcboy which car do u have? ive had the same problem on me pulse 4.6 & i solved it like this : start the engine , take the car up that the wheels can spin free, hit the gas a few times & then it should work. on my pulse it helped.
Just look at the exhaust, it runs rich as fuck for the 2-3 seconds that this guy has it going. Not lean which would suggest some kind of air leak. what the bollocks!!!! lol
@storeyno3 YOU ARE COMPLETELY RETARDED. LOOK RIGHT BELOW THIS COMMENT AND READ MY PREVIOUS COMMENT. THEN SHUT YOUR RETARDED FUCKING MOUTH. GOOD DAY DUMB KID.
@storeyno3 again thank you for copying and pasting my exact comment twice now retard. You are definitely the stupidest mother fucker I have ever seen. Too dumb in fact to read more than one comment. Don't bother posting back as I will not waste my time with you any longer. Good day.
@storeyno3 I now feel bad that I have been making fun of a little retarded kid. Did you put a nitro engine on a can as you said you have a "nitro can". Thanks for responding back even if it did only take you almost 2 months it is o.k. little retard.
For anyone coming across this video because their car is doing the same thing, this is a simple lack of know how when it comes to tuning. Your carburetor is too far open and is taking in too much fuel when idling. Pull off your air filter and look down inside of your carburetor adjusting your idle screw until the gap down inside is smaller than what you originally saw. Replace the air filter and try starting again. You can tell this is the problem because his car trys to run away from him.
its ur clutch. its bad. u have to change the clutch, as u can see the wheels go around when u start.. the clutch are stuck or its to bad . buy a new change then u can use it ! and remember to tune it again man. that car is not rigth tuned!
@berniball yes really, he hasnt broken it in and there for it has low compression, when it is off it has just the right amount of coolness in it to start but when it runs it gets hot and expands gving it low compression and so cuts out
Your idle screw needs to be reset. use the Throttle control on your radio, and play with that, also the engine sounds very lean. You can also remove the filter and check the idle screw from there.
try giving it some gas my exceed (piece of $h**) did the same thing I had to have a friend give it a little gas and keep hitting it until it warmed up
@TheRideshop91 I WORK IN A HOBBY STORE REPAIR R/C ALL DAY 1. CHANGE TO COLD PLUG. 2 RETUNE TO STOCK SETTINGS LOWER THE IDLE 1/4 TURN OUT. 3 RITCHEN UP LOW END. SETTING SHOULD BE -HIGH END FLUSH W/ CARB- LOW END 1/2 TURN IN TO LEAN IT OUT FINAL STEP- APPLY BRAKES BRING IDLE DOWN TILL CAR DIES, THEN BACK OUT 1/4 TURN.4 SMOOTH IDLE RETURNED PROBLEM FIXED
change the glow plug they go bad or put your high and low settings back to factory settings then go from their if it dies lots of smoke to rich lean buy turning low needle in quator turn at a time little motors need little adjustments
Hi mate.. with rc engines the leaner you run them the faster they go. you can adjust the high speed needle and/or low/idle speed needle. in your case its much to lean on low speed as it revs high on idle then cuts out... try turning your low speed needle back inn... you have to find a good balance between rich and lean in order to give you good life on the engine and performance.. Smoke is good... when using the truck you should see blue smoke when accelerating...
yes that would be idle isues turn the idle up make sure there is fuel going in the carb. if not if you are not getting fuel into the engine without giving it any throttle it will die
U have the same car as me and mine is strongly affected by temperature. If its cold u may need to heat the engine block up first, thats what i do and it works fine.
When the the car takes off when you get engine going it is because u have very lean low speed needle or improperly set idle needle as for the cutting out may also be cua of very lean low speed needle or idle is to slow
turn your throttle adjustments up on remote

change the glow plug they go bad or put your high and low settings back to factory settings then go from their if it dies lots of smoke to rich lean buy turning low needle in quator turn at a time little motors need little adjustments

Hi mate.. with rc engines the leaner you run them the faster they go. you can adjust the high speed needle and/or low/idle speed needle. in your case its much to lean on low speed as it revs high on idle then cuts out... try turning your low speed needle back inn... you have to find a good balance between rich and lean in order to give you good life on the engine and performance.. Smoke is good... when using the truck you should see blue smoke when accelerating...

low speed needle lean it out
jerbar120 1 year ago
put the idle screw in all the way and turn it 2 full turns and a half
trevord1999 1 year ago
yes that would be idle isues turn the idle up make sure there is fuel going in the carb. if not if you are not getting fuel into the engine without giving it any throttle it will die
dustindrums96 2 years ago
turn idle needle down mine did the same when i got it
funnybone16 2 years ago

U have the same car as me and mine is strongly affected by temperature. If its cold u may need to heat the engine block up first, thats what i do and it works fine.
BenMale1 2 years ago
When the the car takes off when you get engine going it is because u have very lean low speed needle or improperly set idle needle as for the cutting out may also be cua of very lean low speed needle or idle is to slow
icey221 2 years ago
when this happens on my motorbikes its generally running too lean. when you start it, it gets a lot of fuel where
