Angie Dickinson is an actress who played a cop on a show called Police Woman circa 1974. She played a character that was strong and beautiful, someone every little girl wanted to grow up to be. Ground-breaking at the time...
you know what's odd about this? it's an amazing performance - in fact it's the precise moment I became a Tori fan. but if you compare this to the original TV broadcast, which is ver poor quality because of being ripped from VHS, you notice that this high quality version has had the heart ripped out of it by compression or something. nothing like as dynamic. is it just me?

Pele is my fave Tori album...I think in lots of ways its the least immediate - its sometimes the only music that will do when Im giving myself a hard time tho (and I DO think that its about giving yourself a hard time rather than anybody else doing it to you)
Two things: A) This song can always bring me to tears and B) Those french horns are both haunting and romantic. LOVE this video! "Don't make me scratch on your door, I never left you for a banjo"...So good...
its so amazing to have followed tori amos from her first tour to her last show i saw here in los angeles last december. at first it was like young girls with their gays, then the girls started bringing their boyfriends, husbands, etc..but the gays still came with their boyfriends in massive crowds. now its so amazing to see everyone there from older couples to little kids with their parents. this may sound sound weird and i'm a total gay so i can use the term loosely. tori is amazing. rimbaudboy
This was on the British TV program "Later with Jools Holland" on BBC2. I think this is a 1996 appearance.
I agree with your assessment of Boys for Pele. I've bought at least four copies of it over time due to lending it out and having it mysteriously never return...
Tori is the only artist i know that can affect someone's life so deeply than anyone else. She has some kind of healing touch..Her creations will always be one of the greatest parts of my life.Thank u for everything Tori.
Madonna IS creative and a good interpreter of feminism --in her own peculiar way. I am a huge, huge Tori Amos fan, she's always the deepest, the greatest, the most talented of all; but Madonna is not bad at all...
I always will love Tori Amos! This song means so much to me! It helped me alot through out my life! Not to many singers can bring that out in a person! Ask any tori amos fan! Somehow we all live through her words!
+hey this was the exact moment i became a tori fan. she left all the other acts in the dust... watching this prestine performance again makes me think it was just meant to be. i went out and bought the album and by the end of Hey Jupiter i was lost with all hands.
what a lovely rendition of this song with live horns and great, clear close ups of Tori in all her splendor and the fabulous faces she makes; so expressive!
not sure I go as far as to say it depresses me but I know exactly what you mean... sometimes it hurts to listen to Tori and that's why she's so great.
I get really sad when I hear this song. It's about love and the words she uses to describe her emotions are so nice and great. She is just an incredible songwriter. I also get nostalgic/melancholic when I listen to pretty good year and Northern Lad. I love Tori.
agree wholeheartedly with these comments. the track sends shivers down my spine, and the horns evoke memories of my time in south yorkshire. it's a beautiful mixture of sounds and a typically flawless and sexy performance from tozzer.
she makes me feel things I have never felt when she does what she does.

This video was my first time ever when I saw and heard Tori Amos...
My 12-months-old daughter cried when the video was over and we watched it about ten times in a row :)
This year I met Tori in Moscow. She is just amazing. She is a miracle.

i agree, and people just do not understand the complexity. They are not willing to even try.
i just got done arguing with some "poor unfortunate soul" who thinks Madonna is the pinnacle of creativity. "What a thought"
