I know your heart is in the right place and I commend your efforts to make a one man, one handed video but PLEASE look at your own videos and learn from your mistakes. Get organized. Slow down your camcorder movements. They're disjointed and sorta herkyjerky. After watching the first few minutes of your video, the movements become quite distracting. I have no criticisms of your pickling techniques, and I am interested in how you preserve food, but your video style gives me vertigo. Good luck
@wallydat1 Yeah I've gotten this before :). Like most on youtube I'm not shooting for production value. It is how I roll and anyone who wants to join in and can take it is great. So if vertigo is what you get then I might not be your guy.
Also take the bands off and clean and dry them and they won't rust. But hey theres a million knowitalls out there!LOL! Im doing your recipe now and I touched my eye and it BURNS!!
@14dollarz No ,However When the jar is in the sealing process liquid and tiny bits of solids leach out into the threads of the band. Band should be removed when sealed and top and side of jar should be rinsed to prevent botulism from forming.
@14dollarz In the event of a can going bad, a tell tale sign is the top popping off, since it will start to off gas... Though with pickles, they initially ferment, sooo...
Great video! My mom always made pickled peppes but she always used the long version and I never wanted to pickle until now. Thanks! Just wondering if you can explain again how long I need to have them in the fridge before they are ready and do I have to store them in the fridge?
@14dollarz hahaha that's so funny I did that,..it's just like something i'd do. Sometimes I mistake the name that sits before the comment as the person who is talking! Yes I did mean dehadista! to be the official Scmuck. Sorry 14dollarz :) I liked your video and am going to try your recipe :)
@missmonasuzette Yeah it is confusing. I know this is youtube where people put up way crazier comments, but not sure why folks need to feel like they need to play director or critique things every time. Just looking to share and if people don't like the way I do it then they don't have to watch.
@dehadista2006 You must not have most of my videos then. That is just how I talk and do my videos. I'm not trying to make a youtube cooking show or anything. Just sharing stuff being the way I am. I have gotten comments on talking fast, but that is just how it is going to be. People still watch me for some reason.....
Thanks for this video, just what i was looking for. Tasty pickled veggies and this would be good practice for newbies before the dreaded water bath.
Hey you might not want to put your jars on cold stainless steel sink, it could crack your bottles. My mom mostly puts the hot bottles on wood cutting boards.
Yes, thanks for putting this up. I hope to be able to do this after my wife and I visit the Fresh Market out here (a local farmers market type place out here). Nice harvest there!!
@crewlla . Ya that is what I liked about this method. Mostly for smaller batches where you don't have to do the water bath. So I guess this really isn't canning since afterwards you have to store it in the fridge.
Ooohh, thanks for the vid! Was planning on pickling peppers this year, my mom even sent me her old book on pickling. I think this is a different way than what's in the book, I might try this way, looks a little easier.
Hokay, constructive criticism only, again, good luck. Let's see now,...where did I put those sea sick pills?

very nice, however you store your finished product with the band removed.

You might wanna not talk too much and shorten the videos, very simple task. No need to discuss like its a brain surgery you are about to do.
