this lady Sharon Snir wrote an inspirational book on how to deal with family members with dementia. i highly recommend watching her youtube video. its called:
"Looking For Lionel-How I Lost and Found my Mother through Dementia"
Theres a reason nature makes you die before this disease takes its full tole, its called mercy.
Im witnessing what this disease can do and dying in your sleep, having a heart attack, even getting shot in the head is a much better way to go then letting the disease progress until your overwhelmed by the severe horrible effects, after a point your just keeping a body alive, all there is inside is a tortured soul that shouldve died a while ago.
If you get this disease, do not take the medicine.
my dad got dementia when he was 53 he also got ALS with it, it was very hard for us he passed away last year. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who are living with people who have dememtia or ALS, i know how hard it is.
Certain people who put nasty comments on this site, you know who you are, you are cruel, I would like to see if your parents get dementia or yourself, see how you feel then. My dad has this now and seems to becoming a different person to what he was.

People with dementia should be put down, instead of being loaded off into care homes where you get 18 year old lasses being exploited on minimum wage having to putup with all the shit behaviour their family couldn`t put up with. Lets tell the truth. Family loads these no brains on to carers, and then shout holy hell when carers lose patience with them., Hu ! As if family had patience. Taht`s why they end up in homes - cos family are so pissed off with them. And they expect strangers...etc !
The families could do what we did and shackle Dad to a tree next to a bucket of water and a bowl of oatmeal. It was for his own safety. At night we'd bring him in and chain him to a pole in the basement.
Also, we bought a dog from the animal shelter that followed Dad around - you know....saved on diapers. He was fine with it and we didn't have to bother with a nursing home. We could keep Dad at home in the loving bosom of family.
I work in one of these care homes, and some of these people would be better off dead, and I'm not being horrible here, Ive seen the lifes of these people sitting in a chair stairing at the wall all day long day in day out. I feel so sorry for them. And for your comment on 18 year old girls being exploited on minimum wage, your totaly right, At the home that I work, that I wont mention, they have recently decided to not pay all staff for a whole 2 weeks, 2 weeks of money held untill we leave
This is really very sad to see and it touches home on a personal level as well. My great-grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I do think there should be more exposure into these diseases and more research into finding better treatments and hopefully a cure for them. Its about time these diseases were got more attention.
Wish there was a cure, but wishing won't make a magic potion appear.

And family is what's truly important.

My nan suffered with dementia, it's extremely painful for the people around the person suffering.
Emotionally, it kills you to see the person you love suffering.
