  • Alas I am condemned. Down I fall. Pity

  • Wow

  • What is the painting at 1:00? :)

  • @roman1akid I've added it in the description - it's 'The Burial of Atala' (1808) by Anne Louis Girodet-Trioson. :-)

  • @Ablacsia I thank you very much for this.

  • @Ablacsia That looks like a very early Cezanne at 2:27. Very astute. His early work is much underrated.

Or is that possibly a Daumier?

In either case, Cezanne or Daumier, the somber tone of the picture is quite incongruous with their more widely known work, which suggests to me you were either very shrewd or very serendipitous in selecting it.

  • does anyone have the opinion that its just a tad too slow?

  • @pollr003 No, It´s perfect for me.

  • Una meraviglia.

  • Yeah... I love him on this. Been disappointed with the mezzos on here so far they really crush the li-HI-Hi-HAAAAAAI-fe out of this poor thing. This is just in the middle, sad and right, thanks.

  • Magnifique.

    "When the senses

Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness,

    Who can stand?

When the souls of the oppressed

Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?" (William Blake)

  • @philduvar Well chosen. Blake is my favorite poet (and the greatest of English visual artists, even if he isn't recognized as such).

  • I love Dowland so much.

  • Alas I am condemned ever !!!!

So depressive and so true! Thank you for posting! Hear also Emma Kirkby with this song!!!
