  • lol maybe it's just me but I feel like the person who ends up with a broken arm is the loser

  • is it me or the music made this video extremely gay ?

  • @patryk8977 i was just thinking about posting a comment saying the same thing :D

  • At 6'4" 250lbs one of the strongest and skilled BJJ fighters in MMA. Fedor underestimated him and got caught.

  • @ramrod20042000 250lbs No ! 255 - 260 lbs !

  • excellence in basics. love the sit up sweep to kimura at a world class level

  • @fatalarmadillo

Very basic hey? Do that all the time. Good to see it still works :p

  • @DGrant1010 ha me too.

  • Werdum's BJJ is sick!

  • BJJ the Best !!!

  • Damn Werdum is underrated his groundskills are worldclass

  • Как же этот бразилец любит мессионерскую позу:))

  • @maxsteelee

Your kidding right? You know nothing of mma.. This was years and years ago when Werdum was much younger and lindland was still relevant. Now he loses to anyone decent and fights at 185 pounds whereas Werdum is a heavyweight fresh off a win over Fedor and has beaten Overeem in the past and multiple top 10 heavyweights. So

Your rash predictions that lindland would beat up Werdum is ridiculous.

  • Werdum is underrated imo

  • gaaaaaaaay

  • oh shit ! the wrestler became the jiu jitsus bitch!

  • BJJ is so fucking gay sometimes

  • Werdum reminded me of Aoki in this match...very patient and slowly slithering his way toward the finish in a very impressive strategic grappling battle.

  • Comment removed

  • BJJ = Unbeatable!

  • Werdum claims he has a black belt in judo, which should mean he should have good stand up skills ... he pulled guard like 4 times? Ass dragging at its finest, I tell you that! Yes, he beat Fedor (major props for that) and the whole world is saying it was a fluke .. hell Werdum hinted on it as well ... that's why he wants a rematch to prove that if he beats him again that the first time was no fluke.

P.S. What the F. is Lindland doing in ADCC match? His a Greco guy with amateur submissions!

  • @pcjudosambo Alot of high level BJJ players have studied Wrestling and Judo. Alot of the Gracie Brothers were college wrestlers or have studied Judo. There focus is BJJ and quite frankly, you do what works best. Fabricio's strength is his guard, with those long ass legs of his. For example, my strength is mount or side control. My legs aren't very long and I have a hard time keeping someone in my guard. So I mastered sweeps and worked on my throws that work a high percentage in my weight class.

  • @daridp i've seen Werdum grapple dozens of times in grappling matches and MMA and I yet to see his "judo or wrestling" skills. When I watch Sambo guys like Fedor, Oleg Taktarov or Judo guys like Karo, Yoshida, Akiyama... I see their Judo or Sambo. Even when I watch Chael S. or Hendo or Matt Hughes, I see their wrestling .. for some reason I do not see Werdum's wrestling or Judo (takedowns, reversals) he always pulls guard

  • @pcjudosambo Because guard is his strong point, he started BJJ before he did Judo. A BJJ player who adds Judo/Sambo/Wrestling to his game isn't necesarrily going to use it offensively. However notice that with Lindlands strong wrestling skills he wasn't able to take Fabricio to the ground on his terms. FW was able to effectively stop takedowns and bring ML to the ground on his. That is where alot of BJJ guys use their takedown skills. I do Judo Gi/No-Gi if you are wondering my background.

  • @daridp The problem is NOT the pulling guard itself (Im sure it's his strong point). The problem is the RULES that allow pulling guard. BJJ based comps are the ONLY in the world that allow pulling guard. Sambo, Judo, Wrestling does not. Personally, I believe that if you remove pull guard from the rules, you would see fighters use their judo or wrestling takedown skills. P.S. Lindland would take him down in a wrestling match... he was just slow here for some reason that I dont know.

  • @pcjudosambo Your confusing several different martial arts. Yes if you pull guard in Judo you will Ippon yourself and lose. If you pull guard in wrestling you will get pinned and lose. There have been wrestlers/Judo players who have gone to the ADCC and have done very well. Maybe you should look at the fact that Fabricio Werdum has great takedown defense. In grappling there are literally a thousand ways to get to the finish line. FW's is different from yours, mine is different from yours.

  • @daridp I agree with you, good point. I know some wrestlers, sambo guys and judokas have competed and succeeded in ADCC, but honestly, I do not look at ADCC as the #1 test for a grappler because the rules favor BJJ type rules. Heck, co-creator of ADCC is a BJJ black belt. I'm still not convinced that Werdum has a good standup game. Grapplers like Fedor, Gekor, "Judo" Gene, Taktarov, Shinya Aoki, Dean Lister, Rickson Gracie .. ALL fought in different arts/styles and won. These are great grapplers

  • @pcjudosambo If you notice that in most MMA matches Fabricio ends up on his back. Sometimes having someone in your guard backfires. IE. When Rampage Jackson picked up Fabricio Werdum who had just synched up a triangle and slammed him so hard he knocked him out.

  • @daridp oh yeah, that's why many asked why Fedor never slammed Werdum as well.. oh well. I admit and know that Werdum has one of the sickest submission skills in the industry. Being a sub guy does not declare you a grappler as a whole. To tap out Fedor means A LOT. If Werdum goes to Judo comps and wins, if he goes to Sambo comps and wins, if he goes to Wrestling comps and wins WHILE winning in BJJ/ADCC and MMA ... I'll be his biggest fan because he would be a top grappler.

  • @daridp

    What? Seriously, do some research.

Fabricio Werdum has never fought Rampage Jackson.

    They are two different weights.

Rampage picked up and slammed Ricardo Arona.

  • @tonysoprano0316 Was probaly mislabeled, I only ever saw the video on youtube. I also have a very hard time picking brazilians apart. Good catch though, thankyou.

  • @daridp Other people have already pointed out that you named the wrong fighter, but i'd also like to point out that anything in mma can backfire. Deciding to stand and trade can backfire....badly. If someone is as skilled as werdum has you in their guard, you're in trouble, the goal is to get out of that guard, and he's gonna be trying to keep you there. If you're good, you use the guard to control their posture so they can never throw any powerful punches.

  • @hzuiel ill take top position any day in MMA. you are going to be eating a facefull of punches if you pull guard on an equally skilled grappler in MMA who can also strike.

  • @maxsteelee The point is that a skilled jiu jitsu practitioner can do more from his guard than he can standing usually, so why stand and bang where the punches are more powerful? If you're actually good and your opponent is just "meh" on the ground, if you pull guard, they should be under you in less than a minute. Then they are the one raining punches. There are numerous sweeps from full guard.

  • @hzuiel i understand, but if you are grappling someone on equal or near level than yourself, you are begging to be punched if you always pull guard. for instance, if this was matt lindland vs werdum in an MMA match, i think matt would win, cause he is capable of securing a more dominant position for strikes

  • @maxsteelee I was never talking about people on the same skill level at grappling, however, I still think a good jiu jitsu practitioner has a better chance pulling guard and then doing something from guard, than they do by standing and banging with someone who is better at standup than them. You go for whatever your strength is. If you're good on the ground, get the fight to the ground.

  • @hzuiel agreed

  • @hzuiel- i agree. and big nog needs to start applying this logic.

  • Werdum is really good .No wonder he beat Fedor

  • Damn, Werdum's grappling is a lot more relentless than I thought.

  • werdum would beat brock in a grappling match, this fight was over before it began! for you werdum haters, those of you who cal him "b" rate, you should further expand your knowledge of the ground game. werdum is one of the best ground fighters to ever enter mma!

  • Great vid! But wrestling would only be effective against bjj if they were wrestling rules. And if they were wrestling rules, a bjj dude would get pinned way more often because they work from their back a lot. And if you allow striking, like in mma the wrestler is extremely successful utilizing ground and pound. I like Werdum a lot more than Lindland but this wasn't a fair match-up at all

  • @M4Carbine434 I agree. ADCC was created by Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan with his BJJ instructor. That's why BJJ rules are very, very similar to ADCC rules (almost identical). Matt Lindland was out of his mind to compete there. I mean, Matt Hughes is a great wrestler and excellent submissions .. even he had a hard at ADCC... Lindland had little chance since his submissions are weak. Take Werdum in a Judo/Sambo match, Fedor wins. Take Werdum in a wrestling match, Lindland owns him.

  • You can't say " You cant compare wrestling and BJJ " because those 2 sports are meant to compete, just like in MMA they are put to the test. If you ask me, BJJ seems to counter wrestling very well, I have seen that in Pride,WEC and numerous times in UFC.

  • @VIBoBoIV BJJ counters wrestling in BJJ/ADCC tournaments. In a wrestling comp, BJJ can't hold it's own. In Sambo, Judo .. BJJ has a hard time (only a few top level BJJ guys can compete fine in these two arts). In MMA (50/50) .. because there are many wrestlers who out compete many BJJ guys. If you include a great wrestler with massive submission power (eg Matt Hughes, Josh Barnett, and Sakuraba, hell even Brock & Carwin), you have an unstoppable force.

  • Fuckin' beautiful! ..Fab should've tried goin' to the ground wit' Dos Santos!

  • This just looks like 2 men making love to some music.. Lol..

  • werdum's JJ is amasing. he's a true master at it.

  • He Can Beat Brock!

  • shit gay grappling bout as entertainin as takin a turd

  • Lindland survived longer in BJJ then Fedor, lol. Lindland prolly woulda beat Fedor also under different circumstances. This is by far my personal favourite grappling videos from the continuous varying attacks by Fabricio regardless of the opposition. If only all BJJ were this way.

  • one thing ive discovered about werdum dummie wants you to come lay on him like a bitch so he can try tangle you up in a submission

  • wow i wonder if got fedor how that would go....is this guy better then belfort or maybe minotauro ?

  • @claudioagmfilho Minotauro beat Werdum in MMA competition. If they met at a grappling match, I'm not sure who'd win. And he's got better Jiu-Jitsu than Belfort. Belfort is a way better striker than Werdum though.

  • @Viperguy896 Belforts style of BJJ translates better to mma & better in this case is only measured on power not technique.

The answer in a match too I strongly think it will be Werdum his style & long limbs better suit bjj

  • @Viperguy896 werdum has way better credentials in grappling than nog who has never really won anything. When nog beat fabricio in mma ,werdum was a novice at that game.

  • bjj is so superior to wrestling... a silver medalist handled as a little kid. Alliance BJJ!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheCymorelli ya, but what if they were wrestling instead of BJJ?

  • @utahboy86 Werdum is a 240lber matt usually walks around at 210 (212 for the Fedor fight) matt being a class act in wrestling skill wise will be at an advantage but size is suffering

  • @TheCymorelli a fading silver medalist of yesteryear at 175lbs vs a recent heavyweight ADCC champ......yeah your right it proves everything that is the power of bjj beating mere shades of a former life in place of someone more viable. its been this was since the first ufc where they scouted for tallent they couldnt lose too!

  • @TheCymorelli wrestling is only part of sub grappling,it needs bjj to complete it.You cant compare them since they are different sports with different rules.Id rather have a strong wrestling background before beginning bjj if I had the chance, someone like pablo popovitch would be my idol in grappling, good everywhere.

  • talk about perfect timing by werdum

  • that is such a sick move, he showed me that at a seminar very very effective from that position

  • Lindland submitted an accomplished BJJ player in Travis Lutter

  • lindlands jiu jitsu is terrible

  • niiiiice

  • too easy

  • Comment removed

  • That´s dumb. A mediocre 84 kg ageing greco guy against an 110 kg Abu Dhabi bi-medallist. WTF?

  • Mediocre? Lindland won a Silver medal at the Sydney Olympics...

  • I butchered the message. My bad. Lindland is a top greco wrestler, but mediocre in submisions. With ADDC rules he got not a quarter of a chance

  • Fabricio, very smooth I could watch this all day again and again. Poetry in motion, Brasilian Jiu Jitsu in action at it's best, a Lion stalking and subduing it's prey.

  • @rajender23 couldnt have said it better, that was a beautiful armbar. like butter he transitioned into that there was nothing lindland could do about it.

  • @rajender23 better is sambo

  • Sorry my friend BJJ is better ask Fedor the Sambo master arfter being choked by Werdum via triangle choke

  • @rajender23 bjj has a better guard, that is the only advantage.Fedor has already whupped big nog twice inside the guard,he got very careless with werdum though, just dove straight into the trap.I predict he'll win the rematch

  • @rajender23 theres even the generic discovery channel lion hunting a gazzel music to go with it haha

  • @rajender23

Lion would never get to it's back because that means you give up aka you are a coward. Watch any Lion fight video and you will see that their fighting is just like classical wrestling, the object is to take you opponent down with your skills and your physique, not by hurting the opponent. The one that stays on it's back is the loser in the jungle.

  • @hansul hahahah, you must have been a high school wrestler.

  • @hikikomi

    HOW DID YOU KNOW

  • wow, werdum pre- 40 lbs

  • That was a sweet transition from back control to an armbar, I do not think I have seen that one before. What is Lindland's deal competing against heavyweights, goodness the dude is a 185 pounder, let the big men face other big men.

  • weight does matter, this is why there is weight class!

  • not as much in jujitsu as in mma hence the reason why small guys often win absolute competitons

  • Nice arm bar from the failed RNC. Too bad he got knocked out in UFC90, I was expecting a good match.

  • man, I knew werdum was going to win before I even clicked on this video, but wow, it wasn't even close.

    what a performance!

  • Some moves in Wrestling is kinda gay.

  • Lindland really is an ugly dude- Anyway, easy one for Werdum!

  • that was fun to watch. What an odd video to watch if your not familiar with BJJ! It really is like a chess match

  • Great display of jiu jitsu worth saving.

  • isto é Brazilian jiu jitsu sensacional

  • Quasimodo vs lurch

  • i had so much pleasure watching this!

  • beautiful submision!

  • it's called submission grappling

look up abu dhabi combat club on wikipedia

  • scorched you may be right about the weight but lindland is just way smaller . L O O K. i'd be curious cause my guess would be werdum just cut enough for the class while lindland was at his largest competitive weight.

werdum is a top 3 true MMA HW and is a sub/ground master but lindland is great too. even rampage seemed WAY more managable against lindland

    o

  • weight doesnt matter look at marcelo garcia, he owns heavyweights at 170ish

  • Very nice music..

  • Dont fucking spoil the results, moron.

  • Don't read the comments before watching the video...I didn't see any of the comments until afterwards.

  • Great match. Anyone know what this music is? It's in a bunch of these ADCC videos.

  • mad respect to matt for goin for the reverse triangle. not every one gets jacare in positions like that

  • nice

  • werdum always cranks subs on so hard

  • Great Sub... classic BJJ. Respect to Lindland, he's a tough cat

  • Werdum's a fag!Make him fight Matt in a cage he'd be destroyed.

  • yea don't go into guard with a guy like werdum unless your pretty damn good at bjj too!

  • westreler may get the top position, or even a better postion but it still being impossible to ebat jiu jitsu fighters in the ground, westreler isn't done to sub someone...

  • DAMN!! Lindland Got Took to School!!!

  • yeah arlovski is better rounded, although i think werdum wanted to prove someting and stand with arlovski, i think it would be a different story if werdum tried more takedowns.

  • Just the way your mom likes it asshole.

  • u r a bitch ass fag;)

  • very cool, i'm sure matt didnt go in there just with intention on wrestling, but that is his foundation, like randy couture. gotta work on escaping subs :)

  • Werdum is a sick grappler.

  • In 2002 Werdum fought a couple of white belts that I know at a tournament and broke their arms.

He was wearing a blue belt and danced and sung in Portuguese after sending three guys to the hospital...

  • how did white belts in bjj get in the tournament? i thought it was invitation only.

  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the best!!! Dá-lhe verdão!!!!!

  • monson is undefeated in adcc you nubs

  • wat....i am from dubai and he lost a couple of times in adcc....

  • really? maybe im thinking of ricardo arona

  • Arlovski is an incredible mma fighter. Why discount him because werdum is better at bjj? Was their fight a bjj match? Don't hate on Andre because he was better at mma.

  • slick, very slick, bjj.

  • monson would tool werdum

  • probably not

  • ugh no.

  • lol no he wouldnt and you no he wouldnt too Monson is big steroid freak and is wrestling isnt even that great

  • haha no

  • That was brillian grappling. Awesome armbar from back control

  • I stand by the belief that there is no such thing as a Matt Lindland fan

  • well i cant say your wrong there. they guy doesnt wash coming up to fights so he can throw his oponents off with smell. he did that in the olympics im told. and all round he is just a whinger. like ken shamrock

  • Werdum is an incredible grappler

  • awesome match

  • Seriously though, mma vs ADCC bullshit aside, what is that awesome music??

  • Werdum's a bad ass and hes gonna put the bitch slap on Arloski at UFC 7O next week .

  • Yeah Arlovski is WAY overrated but thats not said to take away from Werdum.

  • Fedor won by armbar at 2:58 of the first round.

  • o.k. mma fans the news is that ufc now owns pride.and now they are going to start paying their fighters millions for title fights.isn,t that fantastic? now we may see king fedor fight in the ufc.ifl, bodog, ufc, pride its just one big happy mma family.

  • yea i love pride but seeing all these people leave including all of btt big stars like big nog and so on probably means that prides going to tank. but i really want to see the arlovski/werdum fight and i want to see cro cop kick that gonzales guy head off too. should be the first good card in awhile for the ufc.

  • " and i want to see cro cop kick that gonzales guy head off too."

    LOL @ the irony

  • in my eyes Werdum vs. Arloski is gonna be more exciting than Chuck vs. Rampage and it will also be fight of the year thats my prediction

  • I'm excited for Werdum/Arlovski, I'm getting UFC 70 based on that alone.

  • matt lindland sucks and smells like shit.

  • Smells like shit?

  • and he´s facing Fedor in a couple of weeks, that must be an awful feeling for a limited figther like matt...

  • He has as good of a chance as anyone at beating Fedor. Close to zero, but I think he will hold his own and surprise a few people.

    Fedor TKO rnd 2.

  • Lol, good one

  • i believe once crocop is champion. something will happen that will shock the mma world. like pride getting bought by ufc or something. either way, i see crocop vs fedor 2 in the future. ufc heavyweight champ vs pride heavyweight champ would bring in the most sales. so maybe that will happen, but then again fedor could come to ufc.

as much as i love pride, i hate to say this, but everybody is going to end up in the ufc eventually

  • I hear you man, I love PRIDE but pride is going down hardcore, crocop left, gomi lost to ex UFC fighter, Wandy lost and PRIDE is having trouble itself, it could be like the ex Japanese MMA organzation KINGS...everybody left and it disappear on the planet

  • Takanori didn't lose, it was actually a no contest. He was beaten Nick, and the NSAC overturned it during the match.

  • NSAC overturned the match because of marijuana use by Diaz. i still think gomi lost.

  • huh ?!?!?! i guess the NSAC told that to gomi right before he tapped huh?

  • after wanderlei silva lost, pride lost alot of credibility. Because a 183 pounder who was 197 pounds when he fought vanderlei beat their top 3 LHW(UFC)/MIDDLEWEIGHT(PRIDE) champion.although i dont see fedor losing any time soon, until he faces crocop. nobody else can beat him

  • Apparently Dan isn't a PRIDE fighter now? I'll pick Dan over 98% of all 205ers.

  • Interesting video, thanks.

  • I don't know how old this is but Lindland has improved a lot in his Jiujistu over the past 2 years. Obviously he still favors GnP and uses his suppirior conditioning, which he could not here. Furthermore, Lindland is one of the top 185 pounders in the world in MMA. However because he is an independant he fights a lot of Heavyweights and doesn't get exposure. The real test is how he does in his fight in April against FEDOR ELEMENOPEEKO.

  • beautiful armbar

  • Werdum's BJJ is superior and his size advantage also is a great advantage, but Lindland is the better MMA fighter.

  • YOu really make me laugh.. Fabricio Werdum is one of the best HW fighters in the world, in MMA...Lindland sucks!!!

  • you're retarded.. Lindland is one of the best mma fighters out there!! But you can't expect a 185 pounder to beat someone who weighs near 250 lbs!

  • Unless its Marcelo Garcia..

  • Actually, this wasn't the ADCC absolute class. This was the HW bracket which ,means they both weighed in within the same bracket. And besides, in this fight Lindland was completely outclassed in terms of skill, at the same weight Werdum would've destroyed him just as badly.

  • The match was pretty much over as soon as Werdum pulled guard.

  • kick ass

  • love the music! so mma and grappling r totally diffrent. by the way i love tha classic match Bjj vs wrestling no matter which style(bjj or wrestling) r the best but it depend on the person tha trains harder or longer all u gotta do it put ur mind in the game well i would like to see bjj vs wrestling or bjj vs judo even wrestling vs judo it will be awesome but im wrong wrestling dont were GI

  • yea the music kicks ass, a wrestler only usually knows a neck crack and maybe smoother submission otherwise its generally powering out of sub attempts

  • Do wrestlers come to these sort of matches with wrestling style chokes and locks prepared?

oh, and there's nothing wrong with this music.

  • While this music disturbs me, Werdum's jiu-jits is absolutely sick. War Werdum. War Brazil.
