This guy John Roberts is just outright creepy sometimes. Even nearly 3 years later, does anyone see the irony of this interview? Ron Paul talks about how McCain is emotionally invested in the Iraq war. The fascinating thing to me is that Obama has set a date for full withdrawl of the troops from Iraq just recently. But don't think for a second that means Obama's foreign policy even slightly resembles Paul's foreign policy. Paul's policy in theory is safer than either McCain's or Obama's.

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn't plan to return it. Haha, that guy was patting Ron Paul on the back and really kissing up to him. He wants a favored seat in the press room under a Ron Paul Presidency!
Isn't it hilarious, though, how they are CONSTANTLY asking him if he'll run 3rd party? They're so desperate for him to do so! They even would settle for him saying he may run 3rd party, so they can plaster that on their pages and extinguish any ideas of a Republican nomination. They're so desperate! hahah
"In the unlikely event that you should not become the nominee..."
Dang right it's an unlikely event! :D
Great interview, they always are with Ron Paul! I find myself always crediting Ron Paul but I know I'm not like a Giuliani, or McCain, or Romney, or Clinton, or Obama supporter. NONE of them can compare to Ron Paul - it only takes an objective look to realize that!! :D
Alright reporters he is not going to run as an independent, he is going to be on the ballet, he just might be the next president and he is going for the long haul and he is not going to stop. To much support to many people backing him he will not let us down.
people need to be aware of Ron Paul and vote for him in the primaries so he can be the republican candidate! I love this man! We need to have him in office.
Literally true...but look at him. He doesn't seem like the type who would let these kinds of things get to him. He's just not uptight like the other candidates are. And even if things do eventually kill him, at least his message can live on for us to continue living in his place.
TosJewel - The Presidency is no ordinary job. It does tend to have a detrimental effect on ones health. That's a lot of pressure. I think even the carefree types would begin to feel the effects.
-
(I see by the thumbs down that the Ministry of Ron Paul doesn't like my comments. How dare I point out a flaw in their perfect candidate. Some audacity I have.)
Ron Paul could use a bit more confidence when he is asked if he thinks he is going to get the republican nom.
i think IT IS TIME for him to come out and assume he is going to win it and show some muscles and say "I AM" since republican side like that behavior a lot.
Dentrassis - Can age affect political ability? You bet. Point in case: Reagan's second term.
You guys make it seem like this is the first time somebody has ever brought this issue up. It's come up plenty of times in the past. Some feel that the fear that Paul Tsongas would die in office prevented him from getting past the preliminaries in 1992. (In his case, it was a history of disease, which actually DID come back to haunt him in 1997, when he passed away.)
Mundie - Yeah, but it's more likely to happen with an older candidate than a younger candidate, barring assassination attempts and the like.
Statistics are statistics. Could he live to be 122? Yeah. Anything's possible. Is it likely? Probably not.
I'd be interested in the average lifespan of other males in his family. More importantly, like I've said umpteen times, I want to know who his VP will be before I contemplate voting for somebody at that age.
Then we'd have to use what "little" is left of him in office. Hopefully, his VP will agree with his viewpoints enough so as not to lose the hope some of us have in Paul's ideas. What you're saying is true, but there's no need to repeat yourself redundantly. If we're that annoying, ignore us. Ron Paul supporters proudly "spam" political message boards, so don't even bother with us anymore.
Gerald Ford lived to 93. Ronald Reagan was 69 when elected. Kennedy died at 46. We've had 4 presidents die in office, and 4 presidents assassinated. There is a risk of dying at any age. You're mistaken in assuming age has anything to do with being President of the United States.
Drr - For every person you point to who lived to their nineties, I could point to another who didn't even reach their sixties. The fact is the average is roughly 76 for a white male in the United States.
Age obviously have something to do with the Presidency. It's fairly well-documented that as you get older, mental sharpness can diminish. (In Reagan's case, you can see it in his second term, although some would argue the botched assassination may have also contributed.)
I'll take an old Ron Paul over young-versions of all the other candidates any day. Old or not, he's the only one with any economic, foreign, domestic, political sense out of the whole lot.
If he dies, he better have a strong VP to back him up. That can be said of ANY political candidate, regardless of age. However, given he's over the seventy mark, it can especially be said of him.
-
Once he decides on a VP, then I'll contemplate voting for him. His views don't match mine perfectly, but realistically? None of the candidates do.

In major part because they want to believe he has no chance of winning the Republican nomination and they'd like to see him "admit it" by saying he is thinking of running independent, but also because they are genuinely afraid of what may happen if he does run as an independent. Daily Kos just did a piece warning that an independent run by Ron Paul would hurt Dems, and many "mainstream" Republican pundits also fear such a run hurting their anointed.
They ask him that question because they want the viewers to believe he doesn't have a chance to win. It puts doubt into the viewers mind. It is their way of affecting public opinion.
I am from the UK, and I truly believe Ron Paul is the last hope for America, I am praying he gets the presidency. He is so honest, you can see kindness in his eyes and hear it in his voice, and has intelligence. He helped deliver 1000s of new lives into the world, Bush and his family have been responsible for the deaths of 1000s, doesn't that sum it up? If Rudy gets in I am afraid its the end of the US as we know it. Rudy will make Bush look like a Disney movie.
I do worry about my own "shitty country" its why I want a good honest person in the white house, not an evil fascist, as what America does, ultimately effects us in the UK, so I care about world affairs and learn about other peoples counties, I know ignorant people like you who support fascism don't, but I do. My wife is also American so I have people I care about in the U.S, which makes it my business. Think before you comment, Thanks.

Warning : There's a secret plan against blacks people. i have found the secret video about on : video.google. Search : illuminatis and the kingdom of lie.
Ron, the next time one of those journalists ask you if you can become the Republican nominee, you tell them straight up, "I will be the next president of the United States"...that should shut them up...
If this was a TRUE YouTube debate, they'd give the YouTubers true control of the time and candidate they want to hear from... We all know that's Ron Paul. CNN's censorship is sad and even sadder is the corporate YouTube allowing it to happen.
The "under 25" crowd numbers in the millions. Many have never voted. They will now. Election experts have never faced this situation. True older republicans hear Ron Paul's message loud and clear. Ron Paul will be President.
The media does not pick OUR candidates...if people actually did their own research and decided for themselves who they think the best candidate is then the media would not have a strong influence, however, everyone is too lazy for that, and they only decide based on what they see on Fox or CNN (you'd be a fool to make a vote based on watching just that)
,,, it is so easy to see that Dr Paul, Gravel and kucinich are the only candidates whom espouse integrity and honesty. but hell, maybe you do need to convince bovine america... free food!!!
That's wonderful. I do like Mike as well but I will be supporting Ron Paul. It is however unfortunate that Mike G. isn't able to get his message out. I wonder if a Paul/Gravel ticket would be something to consider.
"We speak of Liberty as one thing, and of virtue, wealth, knowledge, invention, national strength ans national independenceas other things. But, of all these, Liberty is the source, the mother, the necessary condition. She is to virtue what light is to color; to wealth what sunshine is to grain; to knowledge what eyes are to sight. She is the genius of invention, the brawn of nationalstrength, the spirit of national independence..." HENRY GEORGE 1879
Good to Hear I hope it goes wellf or you all. I like Mike but I am 100% invested in Ron Paul and Beleave Ron has our Best Option on the Table for saving this Country! Mike is a Truth teller, that what makes him great in my eyes! It sad that Clinton has to much power without being as Prez to get him from being at the debates! I truely beleave its clinton that is behind that!
You notice how Ron Paul doesn't even try to take cheap shots at McCain. Ron is almost very Humble to McCain and Rather Feels sorry that McCain is putting Shame to his Name, for This Election Run! I Agree with Ron on that its Saddens me to see someone like McCain for doing alot of this country to throw it all out the door to try to gain a few points on attacking a Fellow American for there Ideas, that he risked his life to defend!
Well, I just got done speaking with a Hillary supporter, and I truly feel like my intelligence has been sucked from my mortal being forever. I fear that I must sleep for a week just to recover. I feel like Seneca after a spectacle.
Why don't these announcers STOP asking him if he's going to run as an independent and START asking real questions that Americans want answers to. What a joke. Things need to seriously change.
Lou, you've got to get RON PAUL on your show as many times as you can, unless you feel threatened by him because you're thinking about political ambitions of your own. He is THE most underrated Presidential Candidate We The People have ever had...
It's is absolutely amazing that CNN would permit the bad manners of some of the audience during the debate! Wolf being a show-host literally generously promoted that kind of mannerism at the last debate.
As a moderator, Anderson Cooper deserves some credit - he did much better than Wolf.
But, when a candidate like Ron Paul does not have the equal time and opportunity to speak, what good does a moderator serve?
if he wins... fantastic! but if he doesnt win it all, i just hope he raises 10mil or more on the 16th just to scare the sh*t outta all the other candidates!! lmfao!!! seems obvious that whomever gets elected that the people like the idea of a flat tax, no more irs!!!
AFAIK Ron Paul has no intention of bringing about such a thing as a "flat tax." His policy on taxation is "cut the federal spending, cut the income tax, and what little difference is left can be addressed via other means possibly including flat tarriffs"
Awesome!!! Go Ron Paul!!! He is so godsend. He is the only beacon of hope we have. God bless him!.
There is no doubt he is the leading candidate in the republican party. If the republican party has any chance to win the elections its going to be only possible if Ron Paul gets the ticket!. Ron Paul 2008.
If anybody has any questions about how the political system has been jeopardized, they must be put to rest after the attempted smear campaign against Dr. Paul this debate showed. However, Ron Paul still held his ground, and it made me more determined than ever to get this guy in the White House!
A do-gooder is one who wants to impose his idea of good on others. For example, if smoking is bad, Huckabee reasons, it is good to place a nationwide ban on smoking.
Debate: (?s Responded 2) Giuliani: 14 (18%) Romney: 13 (16.6%) McCain: 10 (12.8%) Thompson: 10 (12.8%) Hunter: 9 (11.5%) Huckabee: 8 (10.3%) Paul: 7 (8.9%) Tancredo: 7 (8.9%) 78 Total Official Responses Right when it ended, RP didn't even shake the other schmucks hands RP IS THE MAN
He has no intention of running Independent, but you no for sure he will run against any fool nominated from the dumbass republican party other than himself. The republicans have no chance of getting elected to the White House. GWB has sunk that party into a big Shithole and they are not coming out anytime soon. Paul would love to run and wave it right in the GOP's face. Perhaps a Ron Paul & Dennis Kucinich combination. What a team for America.

waluum 4 years ago 3
Alright reporters he is not going to run as an independent, he is going to be on the ballet, he just might be the next president and he is going for the long haul and he is not going to stop. To much support to many people backing him he will not let us down.

rosalie15 4 years ago 4
To play devil's advocate, a candidate isn't going to be able to put our interests first if he's lying six feet under.
-
Is there a possibility he could die in office? Given his age and the nature of the job, I would say yes.
Should he be elected, he's going to be 75 at the end of his first term, and 79 at the end of a second.
Life expectancy of white American males is roughly 76.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Literally true...but look at him. He doesn't seem like the type who would let these kinds of things get to him. He's just not uptight like the other candidates are. And even if things do eventually kill him, at least his message can live on for us to continue living in his place.
tosjewel 4 years ago
TosJewel - The Presidency is no ordinary job. It does tend to have a detrimental effect on ones health. That's a lot of pressure. I think even the carefree types would begin to feel the effects.
-
(I see by the thumbs down that the Ministry of Ron Paul doesn't like my comments. How dare I point out a flaw in their perfect candidate. Some audacity I have.)
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Ron Paul could use a bit more confidence when he is asked if he thinks he is going to get the republican nom.
i think IT IS TIME for him to come out and assume he is going to win it and show some muscles and say "I AM" since republican side like that behavior a lot.

My reservation with him is his age. McCain is in the same boat. They're both over 70 years old.
We need somebody in office who won't potentially be in a casket by the end of his term.
In terms of his platform, I hate him less than some of the other Republican candidates.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
I'd rather have a president in a casket at the end of his term than thousands of American soldiers.

I'm not buying the rhetoric. I want a President who has a high likelihood of getting through a full term in office.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Right, people over 70 can't contribute to society in a significant way. We keep forgetting that. Thanks for reminding us. Choad.
mundiegirl 4 years ago
Mundie - I never said. I merely said what I said.
1) Fact: He's over 70.
2) Could he potentially die in office? Yes.
Tell me which of my comments is wrong, Mundie.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
has age affected political ability? no
do self answering questions really convince anyone? no
Dentrassis42 4 years ago
Dentrassis - Can age affect political ability? You bet. Point in case: Reagan's second term.
You guys make it seem like this is the first time somebody has ever brought this issue up. It's come up plenty of times in the past. Some feel that the fear that Paul Tsongas would die in office prevented him from getting past the preliminaries in 1992. (In his case, it was a history of disease, which actually DID come back to haunt him in 1997, when he passed away.)
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Ok Dwight, FACT, anyone can die at any time.
mundiegirl 4 years ago
Mundie - Yeah, but it's more likely to happen with an older candidate than a younger candidate, barring assassination attempts and the like.
Statistics are statistics. Could he live to be 122? Yeah. Anything's possible. Is it likely? Probably not.
I'd be interested in the average lifespan of other males in his family. More importantly, like I've said umpteen times, I want to know who his VP will be before I contemplate voting for somebody at that age.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Lunar shut up
Ivan951 4 years ago 2
It's like me saying a 40 year old probably wouldn't be a good fit for an NBA team. (Most players retire in their thirties.)
Is my comment saying they're good for nothing?: No.
Is it saying their age may be potentially problematic for the NBA?: Yes.
Similarly, with Ron Paul, there's a reasonable chance he could die in office.
It's not saying he's useless - merely that he may not be ideal for the Presidency for that reason.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Then we'd have to use what "little" is left of him in office. Hopefully, his VP will agree with his viewpoints enough so as not to lose the hope some of us have in Paul's ideas. What you're saying is true, but there's no need to repeat yourself redundantly. If we're that annoying, ignore us. Ron Paul supporters proudly "spam" political message boards, so don't even bother with us anymore.
tosjewel 4 years ago
Tosjewel - I only repeated myself because Mundie was apparently putting words in my mouth.
Lunarsight 4 years ago
Gerald Ford lived to 93. Ronald Reagan was 69 when elected. Kennedy died at 46. We've had 4 presidents die in office, and 4 presidents assassinated. There is a risk of dying at any age. You're mistaken in assuming age has anything to do with being President of the United States.
drr0b0tnik 4 years ago 2
Drr - For every person you point to who lived to their nineties, I could point to another who didn't even reach their sixties. The fact is the average is roughly 76 for a white male in the United States.
Age obviously have something to do with the Presidency. It's fairly well-documented that as you get older, mental sharpness can diminish. (In Reagan's case, you can see it in his second term, although some would argue the botched assassination may have also contributed.)
Lunarsight 4 years ago
I'll take an old Ron Paul over young-versions of all the other candidates any day. Old or not, he's the only one with any economic, foreign, domestic, political sense out of the whole lot.
mundiegirl 4 years ago 3
Mundie - You're missing the point.

Jesus man, why does every interviewer feel the need to ask him about running as an independent?
vitrusak 4 years ago 8
In major part because they want to believe he has no chance of winning the Republican nomination and they'd like to see him "admit it" by saying he is thinking of running independent, but also because they are genuinely afraid of what may happen if he does run as an independent. Daily Kos just did a piece warning that an independent run by Ron Paul would hurt Dems, and many "mainstream" Republican pundits also fear such a run hurting their anointed.
Go Ron Paul!

He is so honest, you can see kindness in his eyes and hear it in his voice, and has intelligence.
