I wonder why I seem to be about the only person I know who despises the Malls and the Shopping of the "Holiday" season. I do not watch any Television shows that are in vogue. I basically watch the History Channel and Nat Geo. I see and play back on DVR certain ads to catch the micro-expressions of the actors. I cannot watch mainstream TV without becoming lost in analysis of the manipulation and become therefore immune to it.

It's called social programming. Most of us have been watching t.v. since we were infants. I stopped watching about 4 years ago and my life improved substantially. There is a good documentary called, "century of the self." It was aired on BBC at one point so keep in mind some things in it are also disinformation, but overall it explains how they learned to market to the public.

There are some suggestions that u accept easily maybe cause they make sense to you or are in the appropiate context where it's ok for you to accept it, and it also depends on the state you are. So just thinking about someone being suggestion proof is kinda not useful.

If you watch the first few seconds of the clip, when they're entering the room, you'll notice that derren is perfectly copying simon's body language. Same timing of steps, sit down at the same time, simon moves he chair forward slightly and derren mimics that too.

Yes. NLP can be used by good, intelligient people to improve their lives. Also, just like anything else it can be used by rip off artists to get over on you. If a reasonable person studies NLP and actually learns what it is, then they are well equipped to defend themselves against the rip off artists who may be using it to get over on people. NLP is not used in this video. It is a 2 part trick to make the viewers believe that Derren Brown is using NLP. The two parts of the trick are clever video editing and behind the scenes slight of hand that we don't see. There is some trueth to NLP and subliminal messaging but it is not found in this video.

Sorry probably didn't explain it very well. This is what I believe happened: Derren called man few days ago and asked him to write down something he wanted for his birthday. The man wrote BMX bike. Then at some point between then and the shooting of this video 2 things happened. 1. Derren figured out what the man wanted and 2. He swapped out the mans envelope for one that said "Leather Jacket".

I've seen and know how neuro-linguistic programming works and have had instances where I've used them myself but, in here, the way that Darren Brown executes it with a surgical accuracy and a misdirecting way that I think its more from his showman ship. Show biz is not m y type though but, NLP once done, can hypnotize people in conversation and the fact weather its true is not depend on the practitioners intelligence alone. Let not try that at home though since wrongly done so, it will kill.
