Nice job on the video!!This album was a veritable who's who the scene at the time.Back in the time when folks sang on each others albums because of friendship and musical respect for one another.Graham Nash, Joe Walsh, and most of the Eagles vocally and instrumentally. And for those who remember the Late Friday nite show IN CONCERT the night Dan, Joe, and the EARLY Eagles were on the show and backed each other up! Dan on Flying V and Joe on Les Paul jammin' to this and THEY CUT TO COMMERCIAL!
Dan Fogelberg Interview 1984 (youtube): "To me, the strength of a song, of a good song, is the images it creates in your own mind, in the listeners' mind, and that's different for everybody. When you start locking images in, to a song, you start reducing the imagination of the listener, and I don't like that." (I would have preferred photos of the artist, the band & performances.. so I'll just close my eyes & listen to this, one of Dan's best )
I'm going on memory, and could be wrong since I no longer have the album, but I believe Joe Walsh played on this album as well-and produced it?? That interplay of two guitars sounds like Joe and Dan together, rather than just an overdub of a second Dan Fogelberg guitar part. Either way, it's a nice interplay between the two! This would have been shortly before Joe Walsh was invited to join the Eagles-Dan himself had also been invited but chose to pursue his solo career instead. A little trivia..
@bookguitarguy I thought I had the album, as I could still play it if I did, but I just now looked for it and I don't have it now. But I think that Joe Walsh did indeed play some on it. Oh, well. And Tage, tyvm for posting.. Peace, all. Love each other.
Great song from Souvenirs (1973). Classic Rock song used to be in most AOR station's libraries back in the 70's but seems to have, like many, disappeared completely as stations focus on the same 350 songs repeated over and over and over...
A talented song writer, artist and could play any instrument. A wonderful sincere person in a world full of phoney would be's if they could be. R.I.P. Dan, I loved you then and I'll forever love you. You are truly a shining star!
I remember when this album came out; upon hearing this song, my bro and I both said, "This guy is gonna put out some memorable stuff." I was expecting some real rockers; little did I know, Captured Angle and Nether Lands were next -- and would become my favorite Dan albums! His versatility, subtlety and lyric honesty are unequaled. I may miss him being around, but I'll ALWAyS have his music, to remind me what he meant to me during my turbulent teens (Home Free to Nether Lands).
Really nice job on the vid... props! And thanx for the tribute to this amazing artist lost to us too soon... RIP Dan, you gave me many hours of joy and tears...
This is Dan the Great before the music industry went and widely released songs that were too poppy for my taste and gave everyone the idea Dan was nothing but fluff. I played this LP and Captured Angel many, many times.
@EmpressOfWyoming58: Totally agree. Souvenirs-Captured Angel-Nether Lands is as great a three-album run as any songwriter has ever produced. I always like Dan because he WASN'T a "singles salute." He made ALBUMS, front to back. And those three, man, what quality music on them!
Thank you I have long loved him and have all of his albums they are the heart and soul of who I am they speak to me and his voice always reminds me of Jimmie Spheeris, The Nest! What do you think, true!
This is an excellent song by a fine man that left us way too early. Produced and one of the lead gutar parts was played by Joe Walsh. We all miss you Dan. Life is short call now.
Exquisite video. Dan Fogelberg was a once-in-a-lifetime talent. His soul has taken flight ... "quoth the raven nevermore." As long as I live, his music will speak to my heart and soul for it is pure, true, and beautiful. True beauty endures. evermore!
Hey Tag/Sarah, another awesome job! The images were amazing. Saw this while listening to a rebroadcast of a 1997 Folgelbergradio interview about Portrait-it was also amazing. So it was nice to get 2 Dan remberances today. Have a safe and happy New Years. BB in FL

I heard this for the first time today and came home to hope someone had put it up. I never expected such art with the song.
You did a super job. You really caught the mood. Dan would be proud of the art from you that his art produced.
