Great test! Is the iPhone screen about the same size as iPod Touch? I never got used to the iPod Touch keyboard. It very easy to hit the wrong keys as there is no feel in it and the keys are very close to each other. An you can not use a stylus or fingernail with the i-devices in contrast with the N810 where you can do very accurate touching for example in a big spreadsheet with small cells.
You can't seriously call that a shootout? It looked like the person typing hadn't had any practice on the iPhone keyboard at all, while being a pro on the N810 keyboard. I just typed "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." in about 12 seconds on the iPhone - without auto-correction - and I haven't had much practice on its keyboard yet.
that was very good, thank you for video, have you use the on screen key board on the nokia n810, that works good too, i think better the the iphone itouch, the n810 has 3 types of on screen writing(keyboards), one is hand-writing recognition typing, two the stylus friendly on screen keyboard, and three the extra large on screen keyboard for finger friendly use.
I've been using the n810 for a couple months. For the first 3 weeks I kept thinking that Nokia could have done better with the keyboard design. Then something clicked and I got used to it and now I think it's actually a pretty good keyboard.
At the very least, it's great that half the screen isn't covered by an on-screen keyboard when I have to type something.
I made in 12 sec on my iphone in landscape, on first try. After 5, made in 9sec. hehe

Same fraze about fox and dog, I'm makin it in 12 seconds on My Nokia E90, but that was just first hit.. so I think that I can do it faster...

You're misrepresenting the iPhone's typing speed capability. Most iPhone users are much faster than you are on the iPhone keyboard.

Amen to that!

turn the iphone on its side and use the big keyboard
hubermsj 3 years ago
you can only turn it sideways for the browser (not for mms, email, notes)

If you have typed on the Iphone keyboard before you would go way faster.Looks like youve never typed on it before .

Same can be said about the n810. With more experience I'm sure typing speed would increase about equally one either device.
