  • Thank you, thank you. They will always be remembered.

  • Frank Sinatra... :) RIP

  • what's the name of the song it sounds familiar?

  • Hey, You forgot about Chalrton Heston >:(

  • SO, if you only made the one mistake about Willaim Powell, you did a GREAT job! Maybe because the info you got in your research messed up. I believe that Powell was retired for many years from the industry, and most confuse that with being dead! As if an actor/actress has a right to a retirement! The music was perfect! Thank you for putting this together for us all!

  • Beautifully done. You chose excellent clips, and the music was perfectly suited to the video. Keep it up.

  • Didn't see Tyrone Powers

  • THANKS FOR POSTING.YOU HAVE ALL THE GREAT ONES ON HERE!

  • I'm not sayingthey are not beautiful but Rita Hayworth is very very very gorgeous and I just saw her today in this video. So many actors and actresses gone too soon

  • Sadly most of them smoked themselves to death!

  • What a beautiful piece of work and great music.

  • Good video. I did not see any mention of Tyrone Power (1915 - 1958). He died tragically in Madrid of a massive heart attack at age 44. He collapsed while filming a dueling scene for Solomon and Sheba and was dead before reaching a hospital. Sad that so many of these great stars died at an early age.

  • Just one correction...(Rita Hayworth) no one dies directly from Alzheimers. Alzheimers causes brain deterioration such that one cannot look after oneself or tell others that they are feeling unwell. So more than likely the cause of her death is something else.

  • the video is pretty anda sad,but the actors images are beautifulbut is sad to see the causese of deade

  • Wow James dean was the youngest one to die that's sad about them I hope I can be remembered like how there were

  • This whole vid is like Debbie Downer from snl...

  • Two terrible tragedies...Carole Lombard and Jean Harlow

  • You can stop apologising NOW!

This is absolutely great and only makes me wish that we were all immortal - then your video happily wouldn't be needed! But, we are all mortal so your video is a great tribute.

  • thanks for posting, you were very close on their ages, ezcept way off on ginger rogers,i still enjoyed it

  • Great Job Claudia thank you for your hard work on making this video of the stars we loved.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song?

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this tribute! You really did a fantastic job, and yet, made me aware of MY mortality by seeing that Douglas Fairbanks Sr died at the age ai am NOW!! Yipes! I better take better care of myself!

  • They came and they gave` like soldiers on

    the silver screen,

Playing out our fantasies like mirrors of

    us in every scene,

But time has taking them all away` and left

us with only photos and film,

May they find rest and peace in the sky` in

    God,s Heavenly Realm.

  • @globehunter2 that's a lovely poem may all the actors and actresses who have sadly passed away R.I.P

  • @kellycol1000 Thankyou so much kellycol1000* for your comment

about my poem, its my way of saying thankyou to them. Take care.

  • @globehunter2 no problem we have got sme great actors and actresses out there there's no doubt about that.

  • No apologies...thanks for posting this tribute to people we loved & still do! Thanks

  • Great video - just change Cagney to 86, Powell to 91, Lloyd to 77...

  • what is the name of the song that u have on the video

  • @wiikid41 theme music for film deer hunter called cavatina

  • What's the difference between "heart attack" and "cardiac arrest" ???

  • @jstagnitto In cardiac arrest, the heart actually stops pumping blood around the body. A heart attack is, I think, only a certain part of the heart at a time. Anyone can feel free to correct, I'm not a doctor.

  • great video, rare footage, thanks!!! never mind the mistakes :)

  • great video. the only one i didnt see i think was Rudolph Valentino

  • @NOELLE01j not looking hard enough

  • rock hudson was 59 when he died & elizabeth taylor died earlt this year from heart failure age 79

  • @gaylestephen I made this video 3 years ago so why the hell would I put Liz Taylor in it yet.

  • My lovely Ginger was only 83 when she passed on. Sadly missed and never forgotten. So much talent in a beautiful human being.

  • Very well done....Thanks for posting

  • its ok we all make mistakes (speaking to maker of video)

  • Plus, thank God, Luise Rainer, Joan Fontaine, Olivia De Haviland and Eleanor Parker are not gone.

    Thank you, lovely video

  • @bcbriney17

Yes, those beautiful De Havilland sisters must have good genes!!

  • And now, Elizabeth Taylor joins the stars

    79, Congestive Heart Failure.

  • Very nice, and the background music was perfect. I was touched and enjoyed watching this.

  • nice video, several inaccuracies in the ages at death though, eg the last one Humphrey Bogart was 57, not 58. This could have been 50 times as long if everyone was included.

  • this is one of best video i'v ever seen in my life and hope that they did'n pass in vein and hope that we could all be in heven one day with our love one's but for now keep liveing and fighting the good fight my friend's til we meet in heven with them all peace love and happyness your's truly al

  • 5:28 is my very favorite person! I was a little surprised when he was included.Imo, he needs to be better remembered by more people.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • What is the name of the music you used for this peice?

  • @crazyaboutmycats Cavatina from The Deer Hunter

  • Thank-you so much for this. I am especially thankful for you to add Lon Chaney Sr. and Harold Lloyd, two very overlooked actors who deserve praise. However, I'm not trying to be inconsiderate, you did forget to add Donald O'Connor.

  • @rungirlmgg

I saw your post and felt I must thank you for remembering Lon Chaney Sr. and (my favorite) Harold Lloyd!

  • @4MaryAnna Yes. They definately do not get the appreciation they deserve. They are multi-talented giants!

  • Great video! It's so awful though that so many died of different kinds of cancer and pneumonia.. And everybody way too early! :(

  • May they All R.I.P.

  • READ HOLLYWOOD BABYLON...1&2..BY KENNETH ANGER`S GOOD BOOK ABOUT THE GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD.....IM A MOVIE BUFF LOVE OLD B&W CLASSIC FILM ALWAYS WATCH TCM..TO SEE THE OLD B&W FILM JAMES CAGNEY MY FAV ACTOR..BIG FAN.

  • You still did a very good job...Thanks for posting.

  • And we loved them all..

  • Looking at all these beautiful faces I find it so hard to believe that one day they're going to get old much less die.

  • Those over 85 should just post OLD AGE as their death.

  • About Dietrich, it was more a suicide since she could not accept to leave her appartment and go in a nursing home. Her daughter Maria later confirmed it though few mentions it.

  • @tousamis Yeh I jabe read her daughter Maria's biography... fascinating read. Thanks for watching. I wouldn't call it suicide though, I'd say she just waited to die naturally, some people prefer that to medical care.

  • @MonroeSmile

In fact, Maria didn't say it was a suicide in her book, she said it later. Marlene was not able to take care of herself anymore and she was penniless and had to leave her appartment in Paris to go to a nursing home but she had always say that she would not go since she felt safe at home. She died on her couch that day and friends later said it was a suicide though they were reluctant to say it. I know it's not somehting well known because it was said many years later.

  • @tousamis Yeh okay fair enough, I'm not disputing it, they were there. But I suicide is taking your life, not letting yourself die, I'd say there was a difference. In my opinion anyway. Thank you for watching.

  • @MonroeSmile

well, her nurse and secretary Norma Bosquet said Marlene did suicide, her friends didn't just watch her die on her couch. She was helped to commit suicide. It's not an easy thing to confess I guess and her friends did not want to spoil her legend. In fact Marlene asked for sleeping pills and took them all during the afternoon and slowly felt into a coma then death. Marlene's grandson Peter confirmed it too.

  • you did a fantastic job xoxclaudia101xox

  • What was the music to this video? Also, it was well done and choreographed with the video feeds and pictures of the actors/actresses...

  • What was the music to this video? Also, it was well done and choreographed with the video feeds and pictures of the actors/actresses...

  • @jamjohnmom Thank you. The music is 'Cavatina' from the film, The Deer Hunter.

  • Sad tribute. It just shows you that death dosen't care who you are.

  • Smoking killed halph of hollywood legends !!!

  • Do not trush youtube amateur videos. One video say that a actor or actress died of something, and other video says another thing abouyt the same person. In other video they said Judy Garland died at 42 years old and that Steve Mcqueen died of another thing.

  • @jerryaltman the info was off IMDB, a trusted internet source. Howevr there is usually controversy surrounding deaths anyway, if someone had cancer, people say they died of that, even if it was the heart attack that eventually killed them. I was 16 when I made this, when I was just startin out. If u want to know actual accurate facts, youtube is the wrong place to go anyway. This was mainly a tribute to the stars that have died. Im hoping to remake it, with just the years of their death and name

  • @MonroeSmile The mistakes I refer is from other video., which state wrong ages to Carole Lombard and Judy Garland.

  • thank you for this very nice tribute to these greats and unforgettable movie stars

  • It is nice of you to do have done this great tribute to these talented people!

  • Oh my gosh that was sad, especially the ones who died way too young.

  • Its scary how many died of cancer and phuemonia, really puts things into perspective. I love old hollywood, and we really have thse people to thank for some of the amazing cinema we have today.

  • Nice job! Some lived to a good age, while others were sadly taken so soon. Strange how life spins on a dime.

  • Vivien Leight és Clark gable a legnagyobbak!!! és nem élték meg a 60-at sem ... :'(

  • Magnificent, very poignant and touching. The only suggestion I can offer is that you include more silent screen actors in your next video. Many silent movie personalities died young and under interesting circumstances, which makes it all the more tragic and Hollywood. People such as John Gilbert, Renee Adore, Ramon Navarro, John Barrymore, James Murray, Barbara LaMarr, Wallace Reid, etc. Nevertheless, bravo and keep up the amazing work

  • Beautifully done.

    Larry, Taiwan

  • rita hayford had lived a harsh life the buisiness she was working with put her though alot in her years she died peacefully in the end may she rip

  • What is the title of the music in this video?

Sad to watch, but enjoyed it anyway, thanks.

  • @SPENNA99 Thank you very much for watching. The music is Cavatina by Stanley Myers

  • The music in this video is perfect.

  • Excellent! They would have been very grateful to your hard work.

  • I believe William Powell lived into his 90's.

  • This is a sad but stirring tribute....Amazingly well done.

  • This realy is a moving tribute, very sad, well made, very well made

  • TYhe only ones you forgot that can think of are Leslie Howard and Robert Taylor, but your video was otherwise incredible and I think you for including all my favorites! R.IP. Vivien Leigh, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, Hedy Lamarr, Clark Gable, Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, Spencer Tracy, and Cary Grant.

  • You did an AWESOME Job!

  • The most mysterious deaths were Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood's one.

  • Thanks for sharing. You have done a wonderful job of putting this together.

I am familiar with all the stars except Louise Brooks. Amazing how many

died from various forms of cancer. WOW! *****5 Stars!

  • A Reflection of Life and Death.............."though nothing can bring the splendor in the grass or the glory of the flower.............we shall grieve not.....but rather.........find strength........in what remains behind............(Wordsworth)".

  • Have you seen this video called " Gene Kelly\Cid|Charisse Opening A Colorful show" from Breton2Robert. WOW and the ending is crazy

  • First of all, a great video, VERY well done. But in fairness to the late Steve McQueen , he did NOT die from lung cancer despite being a smoker. It was caused from asbestos exposure.

  • thank you so very much for the post. i have many of these stars on V.C.R. like over 200 i think.i love old movies. i love all the old timers. i was just a kid when my mom and dad would take me and the other 3 to the movies and we saw these grate stars. you did a grate job doing this video. thank you once again.

  • you"ve succeeded in making me cry. bravo

  • Your choice of music for this video was perfect.

  • @SPENNA99. i agree but what is this song?

  • You have made another blunder. My friend Ginger Rogers was 83 when she passed on and she died of natural causes.

I suggest you should redo this video and get your facts right.

    From Lesley Roberta @

  • I'M SO GONNA CRY

  • Very nicely done. They would say thank you!

  • With the background music, that drives

us through the different time in Hollywood

Hope all of them rest in peace

  • Nice video, but Victor Mature should have been included.

  • Your video clip is amazing.....my appreciation for all your time and effort for having this shared to everyone.

  • Carole Lombard was actually 33.

  • It would've been nice if you had included their year of death.

  • Edward G Robinson was not 66 yrs old when he died. He was 80.

  • Gene Tierney & Charles Laughton.

  • very good c",)

  • Hey, check out the Celebrity Death of the Day app for iPhone and ipod Touch at the Apple App Store.

  • carole landis should be in this

  • great post. thanks so much. more please.

  • So besides the ones that died of overdoses the others died because thats life. They got natural symtoms that cause people to die. The others killed themselves for some stupid reason instead of letting life take it's course.

  • do you realise that MOST (or almost all) of these actors died at a ripe old age..late 70s,80s and even 90s. Its amazing. They grew old gracefully and only a handful died young from overdose, which in present days would be the main reason they died. The others who died young were due to illnesses or accidents. How times have changed. These are the people/actors you can find inspiration from! These are the people 50 years on,and we still watch their movies, emulate their characters. RIP.

  • @inihsrahd i noticed that same thing , about most of them dying at a fairly ripe old age . it makes me feel awesome about the life span of my generation and how it will even grow older .

  • awesome presentation, the legends of hollywood were very pretty people RIP

  • And Shelley Winters!!!!!!

  • You forgot Leslie Howard too!!!! but you don't forget Bette Davis ^^ Thanks for it ^^

  • You also forgot Gloria Swanson. Swanson was the picture of a true star, She was also the highest paid actress of the 1920's and then immortalized the forgotten star "Norma desmonde" in Sunset Blvd.

  • Did you include Dietrich? Also, what about John Barrymore?

  • Veronica Lake died at the age of 50 years old not 54. She was born in 1922 and died 1971.

  • The strongests of all : Katharine Hepburn and Lilian Gish ! :D Also two actresses who really made the cinema !

  • Thank you for this tribute. Some of them were almost like family due to the wealth and quality of their films.

  • Carole Lombard had just turned 33 in October 1941.....she died Jan-16-1942.

  • The first pioneers of celluloid acting. They set high standards because there was no TV. They had the one chance to catch your attention. They also made B@C movies too. I thank them all from my childhood when I watched them all. Toujours Pret (always forward)

  • Ginger Rogers died with 83 years old, and not 95.

  • you also forgot Anita Page, Thelma Todd, Bette Grable, Marion Davies, Gene Tierney, and many more.

  • Ginger Rogers died in 1995 at the age of 83.

  • Beautiful tribute. Edward G Robinson was, I believe, 79 and not 69. I wish Irene Dunne would have been included, she was 91. I realize it's difficult to decide who is regarded as legendary and who is not, so no fault or unkind words meant to you. Beautiful and sad and nostalgic. Thank you.

  • I thought Jean Harlow died of Kidney failure?

  • uremic poisoning and kidney failure go hand in hand. (source Wikipedia) In kidney failure, urea and other waste products, which are normally excreted into the urine, are retained in the blood. Early symptoms include anorexia and lethargy, and late symptoms can include decreased mental acuity and coma. It is usually diagnosed in kidney dialysis patients when the glomerular filtration rate, a measure of kidney function, is below 50% of normal.

  • Loved seeing Claude Rains-he was one of my favorites. Please note correct spelling of his last name. Thanks!

  • You did a really great job with this!

  • Its Sooo sad

its like when they all die

those movies will really feel like the past

  • Makes you think of your own dimise............

  • What happened to Anthony Quinn?

  • thx my favorite r

    Gary Cooper

    Clark Gable

    Spencer Tracy

    James Cagney

Humfrey Bogart by the way u forgot Robert Taylor????

  • some mistakes. but wonderful, thanks for posting.

  • jayne mansfield?

  • i put her in the Hollywood Tragic Deaths video over there >>>

  • okay thx

  • For me the most tragic cases were Valentino, James Dean and Jean Harlow.

Also, what i wouldn't give for Vivien Leigh to have been alive in my lifetime.

    Beautiful job xoxclaudia101xox;)

  • GINGER ROGERS WAS 84 WHEN SHE DIED ..

  • actually it was 83 when she died, she died in April and her 84th birthday would have been in July of that year

  • Thanks for the info. Good to get the facts

    right...........

  • wow....

i never realized ho many stars have died till i watch this video. and all i can say is i will always love them. you did an amazing jod.

  • very nice tribute to those who are gone, there not many people left from that era anymore beside Joan Fortaine, Olivia De Havilland, Shirley Temple, Laureen Bacall, and Maureen O'Hara and Maureen is turning 89 monday!

May they live on through their pictures

  • THANK YOU!!! sehr schön

  • So sad...unique...and terrific research!!

  • Lillian Gish was 99

Next year Luis Rainer will be 100, if she's still alive

  • Thank you for your response and please be well.

  • Nice job on the vid !. It's amazing that many of the old timers lived as long as they did considering many drank and smoked their brains out in those days.

  • thank you!! Yeah i know what you mean, i mean Marlene Dietrich smoked heavily all her life and lived to be 91/92.

I guess it shows how it affects everyone differently. Thankyou for watching!

  • beautiul video

  • But they all live on! Bette Davis was the Queen of all queens! I love her!

  • Wow! There were a lot of cancer deaths! So tragic.

    Great video!

  • God, James Cagney was a great guy! I wish I could have met him, it's really sad when you hear about such great actors deaths. But hey, I guess he was lucky that he died in his later years.

  • I read that Errol Flynn's last words, as he lay dying and looking up at his 16 year old girlfriend were " My friends said you would kill me"..... he was one of a kind ...great tribute to those legends that have left us ..Thank you!

  • What about Lucille Ball? She was fabulous.

  • Very well done..interesting to see the difference in the death ages..Marilyn, James Dean and Judy dying so young..Then theres's Lillian Gish, Dietrich, Colbert and Ginger Rogers living into their 90's..

  • This was beautiful! 5+ star rating. There were several of my favorites. Jimmy Stewart as being no# one.

  • Great editing work! Beatiful video!

  • no not paul newman

  • Marilyn Monroe - 36, James Dean - 24, the most of them died so early;-(But for that, they Entertaining and inspiring us in the history, the present and will do this in the future for the next generations too, simple for all Times;-)Much of them Inspiring a lot of Actors from today, so was Charlie Chaplin the role model for Jackie Chan, because he was the first Actor for him, which made all his dangerous stunts himself, equally Chan do this!!Did you know that??

  • no I never knew that- but what an interesting fact. Thankyou for sharing!

  • Hello Tribute,

Jackie Chan is huge fan of Buster Keaton.

Chaplin was brilliant but did not utilize stunt work in his films like Keaton or Harold Lloyd.

  • Thanks for the info Gipsy.I'm anytime impressed when I hear, which paragons the Stars from today have in the history;-)I think Legends, which have made it in Hollywood are become immortal on this way :)

  • Heart failure at 99 for Lillian Gish? What then, do you refer to "natural Causes"?

Wished you could have added Yvonne De Carlo, too.Great tribute, though.

  • old movie stars have the greatest names! dont they?!! clark gable, humphrey bogart, marylin monroe.......:-)

    p.s. cancer sucks... :-(

    great video

  • That's mostly because the studios knew how to pick out awesome stage names for them! ;) Marilyn's real name was Norma Jean Mortenson, Clark Gable's was William Gable . . . Humphrey Bogart WAS Bogie's real name, though! ;) Kinda wish there was still a studio system so, someone could tell me what my movie star name should be! Haha! :D

  • Aw, that was too sad. I adore those stars. They were amazing =). Great video.

    ~Jade808~

  • I loved this! great video 5/5 stars & favorites :)

  • you have quite a few alive: Joan Fontaine, Olivia ,Jane Russell, Sophia Loren,

  • Great Star,s but still very much human, from illness to other enimies of health they were taken from us. What a peaceful yet all to real confrimation that life is short.

    Thankyou for presenting this feature.

  • Wonderful video, I love this era of film actors, & not as keen on my on era, except for Meryl Streep can't think of many that are of this quality. Interesting how life ends for all, & this is a snapshot of life. Interesting to see cancer is the leading cause of this group, & that is holding true for boomers. Really overdoses were low, when everyone sees stars as having this problem. They in the end are just like the rest of us, living and dying and doing the best they can.

  • thx for the video it was great going down memory lane..:)

  • muito interessante
